Thief slips, knocks himself out By CLIO FRANCIS - Stuff.co.nz Last updated 08:30 04/03/2009
A thief's escape plan came to a slippery end when he tripped on wet stairs and knocked himself out.
Senior Sergeant Jeff Penno said the 28-year-old man came around just in time to answer police questions.
Hamilton police were alerted to the incident at the Te Rapa Waterworld complex on Garnett Avenue around 7.40pm last night.
Mr Penno said the man had been given first-aid by staff at the site, but couldn't explain how a wallet belonging to somebody else had come to be in his bag.
"It appears the man, who told police he'd been drinking, has been attempting to flee when he has slipped on some stairs," he said.
The man was arrested and is facing theft charges.
