Chris Hobbs bows out of dance showChris Hobbs' unspectacular run on Dancing with the Stars has come to an end, but the former Shortland Street star has vowed to keep dancing "on a daily basis".
Despite sporting new facial hair and a stern attitude, Hobbs and his dance partner Kristie Boyd earned just 21 points for their "stiff" tango and were predictably eliminated.
"There was a little bit of smoke, but not much fire," said judge Brendan Cole. "It can be better. A lot better."
After his elimination, a smiling Hobbs said he intended to keep dancing.
"I have had the most amazing time, a brilliant time ... I love it. I intend to keep doing it on a daily basis."
One of this week's strongest, and most unusual, performances came from Tamati Coffey.
The weather presenter - dressed like a vampire and wearing lipstick - earned 36 points for his tango, including this season's first 10 out of 10.
"It was unconventional and slightly strange," said Craig Revel-Horwood. "On a technical note, it was sharp, full of intent, purpose and drama."
Fellow judge Alison Leonard said: "Damn you Tamati. Can you come back next week and give us something to grizzle about?"
But actress Rebecca Hobbs managed to match Tamati's score, earning 36 for her emotional tango, which was labelled "tangolicious" by Revel-Horwood. She also received a 10 out of 10.
Boardsailer Barbara Kendall earned plaudits and a score of 32 for her jive.
"That was one of the best jives I've ever seen," said Revel-Horwood. "That was even better than Brendon Cole's jive."
Josh Kronfeld, fresh from performing at a Highlanders rugby game over the weekend, earned 27 points for his fiery jive.
"Your focus is formidable," said Leonard. "One hundred percent improved."
Revel-Horwood wasn't quite as positive, saying Kronfeld was "technically abysmal but very entertaining."
Geraldine Brophy earned 24 points for her jive, but it was her comments after her performance that had the judging panel in stitches.
When asked how she held her nerve, Brophy said it was all down to her "underwear".
"You're actually quite mad, aren't you?" said Revel-Horwood. "You bounded about that floor with absolute abandon. It was a delight to watch."
Paul Mercurio's response was simple: "You baffled me. Thank you."
Leonard said: "You might be a bumblebee, but you do fly."
But Cole was unable to comment as he was "still at the underwear".
Hobbs is the third celebrity to leave the show. Hockey player Lizzy Igasan was eliminated first, and singer John Rowles bowed out after suffering medical problems.
