Electricity supply north of Auckland at risk - Transpower

Updated at 12:39pm on 2 March 2009

Transpower says electricity supply to customers north of Auckland is at risk of a substantial outage, which could take up to 12 hours to restore.

At present, one double circuit line from south Auckland services the entire area from North Shore to Cape Reinga.

The national grid operator is presenting its case to the Electricity Commission for a second supply route through a series of tunnels.

The commission signalled in December that it intended to reject the project, saying there would be better cheaper options.

Transpower and other business and energy sector leaders asked the Commission on Monday to allow the $500 million proposal to proceed.

This is the icing - I just got a love letter from Mercury. It is blaiming United networks (the line company) for an increase in our power bill effective 1st April, inorder to bring our power costs in like with those south of the bridge.

Ha! If we are currently paying less than Auckland for power it is the first time in a very long time that has happened.

Ork-Lund could easily solve their power problem by building a nuclear power station in Remuera to supply their own needs, then cutting the power cables at the Bombay Hills and stop sponging off REAL NZ!  Grin

The original heading was
North of Auckland.    Smiley

Just a chuckle for TJ as he always wants the cable cut off at the Bombays.
Thats OK,  cos he won't get any diesel or petrol from the oil refinery.

Most diesel and petrol sold in NZ is refined in Singpore and then imported to NZ all ready to sell. The days of NZ's fuel needs being supplied exclusively by the NZ Refining Company are long gone.

There's plenty of other ports around NZ with bulk fuel storage facilities.

As I posted in the very first message on another thread: The REAL NZ could easily survive without the JAFAs. The JAFAs could not survive without the REAL NZ. That says it in a nutshell....Grin

It was the chief CEO of the refinery who made the comment about NZ grinding to a halt.   Are you saying he doesn't know what he is talking about TJ ?

The CEO of the refinery is probably an Ork-Lunder. He probably has the JAFA attitude that Ork-Lund IS New Zealand and nothing else matters. Naturally, us REAL NZers KNOW reality is very different!  Wink
