Official papers confirm low income families will be worse off under the National Government's tax cut package, compared with Labour's.

Radio New Zealand's political editor says papers obtained under the Official Information Act, also show higher earners will be better off.

From April 2011 a person with children earning $40,000 per year will pay $250 more per year in tax than if Labour had stayed in power. The less money earned, the bigger the loss.

However, someone earning $100,000 will be $750 per year better off than under Labour.

Low income single workers, who don't get the Working for Families tax credits, will also be much better off.

A single person earning $40,000 will get an extra $530 per year by 2011 under the Government's package.

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME

[W]hat the internet and its cult of anonymity do is to provide a blanket sort of immunity for anybody who wants to say anything about anybody else, and it would be difficult in this sense to think of a more morally deformed exploitation of the concept of free speech.

....with policies that have turned out to be anti-children (taking food out of the mouths of children from lower-income families) unless those children happen to have rich parents with high incomes — who probably don't need the money as much as the families with kids who will be worse off.

THANKS NATIONAL.

Now watch while they dip into the super fund.

Here is a little bit of info for you nay sayers, a 5kg sack of flour is $1.31 dearer than it was just over a month ago. ($7.30)
It now costs more than sugar.
That is Pak'n'Save prices. Countdown is now no cheaper than Foodtown.

What if their working for families is added in?
I know that families earning up to $48,000 will be 12cents in every dollar better off for every dollar they earn over $40,000 and up to $48,000 from April 2009.   Labour only increased the tax break for 33c in the dollar by $2,000 from $38,000 to $40,000.  How generous NOT.
Labour ignored this group (with or without children for years).

They are pro farmers and I'd hardly call farmers rich... well at least beef and sheep farmers.

Even the farmers have taken a whack to their income this year.  Wasn't it a loss of approx $80000 income to each farmer this year.

That may be so - however my son, who is on a dairy farm is smiling all the way to the bank - as is his boss - they say they dont hear anyone screaming.
