Ex-model and cheerleader jailed for dealing P

A former model and sports cheerleader has been jailed for supplying methamphetamine, or P.

Anna Ngo, 36, was jailed for 3 years in the High Court at Auckland yesterday on the charge of supplying P for a month in 2007.

She was also jailed for two years on two charges of possession for supply after being found guilty at a trial last month. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Ngo, once a part of Auckland rugby's cheerleader squads, was arrested after she was found with 6.8g of methamphetamine in a bag when her car was pulled over on Auckland's Tamaki Drive.

A subsequent search of her home found drug paraphernalia and a "tick list" of people she had allegedly sold drugs to.

Prosecutors had sought a starting point for her sentence of eight to nine years jail, saying she had traded more than 200g of methamphetamine.

Ngo's lawyer Maria Pecotic said the amount was about 8-10g.

Justice Robert Chambers said that in arriving at 3 years jail he assumed the amount she traded was about 30g in the month in which the charges related to.

He said she was unemployed at the time and had a personal habit so she would have had to trade that much to keep up her lifestyle.

Ngo was arrested as part of the police's Operation Texas drug investigation.

The wholesaler she allegedly bought her drugs from, Robbie Haarhaus, is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence after admitting drugs charges. He has appealed against the sentence.
