I have found myself doing all sorts of things to prove to my kids that a) it isn't scary and b)if I can do it they can do it.

I am a bit claustrophobic and scared of heights (glass surrounded stairwells freak me out).

In the last few years I have:

  • Been through the tunnels of North head without a torch (the kids took off with the only torch when someone behind us clanged a grate)
  • Been into a couple of lava caves - one was so tight at the entrance I had to wiggle my shoulders and hips to get through
  • Been down the mud slide at Camp Adair- it took 3 days to get all the mud out of my nose
  • Clambered up low cliffs and around banks hanging on to Supplejack
  • Handled all sorts of wildlife of the non furry sort

I went down a hydro slide so sp3 would on Saturday. My knees were almost knocking together before and afterwords but I did it.

Sp3 said on the way home "Do you know what mum? I watched the whole time we were there (at the pools) and you were the only adult to go down the slide."

[W]hat the internet and its cult of anonymity do is to provide a blanket sort of immunity for anybody who wants to say anything about anybody else, and it would be difficult in this sense to think of a more morally deformed exploitation of the concept of free speech.

way cool Sweat,  Both hubbie and I do stuff like that.  It is great fun and the kids love it.
In my daughter class say she has a cool mum because she is not up herself.  I am pleased cos I think that would hurt

The last time I went down a guy climbing the stairs behind me reached up and forward and tucked my bikini pant's lable back into my pants.

I don't know who was more shocked.  Me, him or my man.

this summer. was insane i hadn't experienced a hydro slide since 1983 and last year i gave the dodgems a go which was equally insane. the best experiences would be participating in a parent and child triathlons and camps.
