I needs plants that can take the heat please.
It is in front of the house under a window and get the full on sun for most of the day.  Please remember that the tempt here in summer is 45 degrees some days.

Kiwi .. best idea is to look around the houses for what the neighbours are growing with the same aspect.

Flowering cacti can make a neat display too  Cheesy

One of the problems I suspect you have is also not much water.

If you do get plenty of water tropical plants would grow nicely.

However if you don't consider some Australian natives or some South African natives.

One of my front gardens is hot and dry most of the year and the one thing that has survived well once established are Gerbera. They have been there now for 20 years and still produce their big daisy flowers.

Looking at what grows well in your neighbours garden is a good idea.
