Surely  the flying of flags will only have significance to those who celebrate or have an interest in that particular day.

Edit to add.   I never thought I would see the day when I would agree with anything Paul Henry had to say... but that day is here. Grin

flying a Maori flag on the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Waitangi Day was a waste of time and money.

Well he is of Mother England stock, so what do you expect.

IMHO anyone who does not have respect for the most significant event in NZ history is not worth worrying about.

It looks as though there is one other who cares about your opinion.
Actually there are a lot of significant events in NZs history which are also worthy of acknowledgement by all NZers rather than flag flying whinging ' wannabes'  with less than half a dozen diluted corpuscles claiming maoridom.

What IYO is as significant, or more so, in NZ history than the signing of TOW?

Well....I guess we could always tear up the Treaty and go back to the situation before the Treaty where Maori owned most of the country and Maori culture was the dominant culture, eh?  Grin

Becoming a self governing country/ Dominion (probarly not more significant than the signing of TOW but on a par with)

It is not just my opinion Magoo, it is a recorded fact.

Whether you and like where it fits day should not alter our acknowledgement of it.

I hope you enjoy it and you may acknowledge it to your hearts content.    That is your right just as it is mine to have no affiliation with it whatsoever.

What IYO is as significant, or more so, in NZ history than the signing of TOW?

The hijacking of it by the gravy-trainers?
I admired Norm Kirk, but he has a fair bit to answer for!  Since the addition of his "Priciples Of The TOW," that never previously existed, it has become a divisive issue that angers many of both races.

Grin Grin sorry to disappoint you magoo but as yet i have never seen any reason to worry about you.

Your disdain for the facts about early NZ suggest you are a mainlander.

And by the way I never actually said I supported the TOW but that I acknowledged and respect the existence of it, which as you say is my right.
