Western Force and former Chiefs and All Blacks coach John Mitchell had some inspirational words for the Springboks ahead of Saturday's big Vodacom Tri-Nations Test against Australia at the Subiaco Oval in Perth. Mitchell was asked by the Springbok management to present the match 22 with their jerseys at the Sheraton Hotel in Perth on Friday.

Mitchell warned the Boks that they should expect their opponents, who are without a win in three Vodacom Tri-Nations matches in 2009, to come out firing.

“You have a decision to make and it must be that you are going to meet Australia with confrontation,” Mitchell said. “Don’t make life difficult for yourselves.

"Turn the confidence that you have built this season into belief that you will win. You must be ambitious and you must be prepared to go 80 minutes tomorrow night".

Mitchell added that the Springbok jersey was special and that it should be treated with respect.

“This jumper has been filled by great players, with great talent. These days talent can be bought in rugby, and it is cheap. But one thing you can never buy is attitude. Only you can bring attitude to the jumper and thereby change the way you play.

"There are never enough minutes in the Springbok jumper and I know you will never take it for granted. You have what the Wallabies want. Don’t give it to them," he urged.
