I took this photograph at Masterton (in the railway yards) a week and a half ago. It is a very stark photograph that I reckon depicts an aspect of winter really well. Although the scene is fairly cluttered, I feel that adds to the bleakness of the setting in some ways.

The photograph is 1024 pixels width, but if any of you find it way too large for your monitor/screen resolution, I can edit this first message in the thread and reduce the image to 800 pixels width as I have both sizes uploaded to Photobucket.

Wairarapa weather as viewed from Masterton at 10:14am on Tuesday 9th June 2009.

I like the wintery feel of this photo.  One tends to cut out the mundane when taking photos but even the view from behind the black stump is a statement of the natural beauty.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body.

But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...

WOW, What a Ride!"

Please note: IMHO and e&oe apply to all my posts.

Are you visiting Wellington?

Or is that an old photograph from when you lived in the Harbour Capital?
