A half litre sized plastic bottle filled with water can be placed in a fire. The plastic will not melt nor catch fire until the water in the bottle reaches a similar temp to the fire.  So you can get a good hot drink - so hot it will steam - BEFORE THE BOTTLE MELTS.

Do not try this in the house nor on the loungeroom floor.
