Lurve fresh fish..    Here is my marta sauce recipe if you want to try it.    Chop up an onion and throw it in a saucepan with a little oil and garlic and cook it for a couple of minutes.  Add a can of tomatoes or chop up fresh tomatoes.    Add a teaspoon or two of sugar, about quarter cup vinegar, some italian herbs and cook it for about 2o mins.      Good to make up when tomatoes are cheap and freezes well.  Good for fish, snags, chops, soup, stew, casseroles.

A good homemade tomato sauce is very nice as is tartare, lemon or lime  but I do draw the line at squirting Watties all over any fish I cook.   Roll Eyes

Lol... you guys have no idea how yummy his source is - it's made down the sounds and oh - my - god, it's too die for!

And with fresh fish - it's full of memories.

The yummiest dinner I've had since the Xmas break.... bed and book on a full tummy me thinks!

Okay....I'm getting confused here now. One person is talking about source but not in the context I would normally expect the word source to be used. In fact, it is almost as if they are talking about sauce and not source (which is the word actually being used).

So which is it....are we talking about the source of the fish? Or the sauce that goes on the fish?

pmsl.... or perhaps one of the people is a computer programmer who has ''source" (as in code) constantly on the brain....

I think perhaps I should call it a night and hit the hay.

The fish was yummy - the sauce was even yummier.... nite nite all.

Fresh fish    *drool*

Must admit, the most I do with it is pan-fry, squeeze over lemon, if I'm serrving with spuds, a bit of butter. Fresh salad or veges.

Monkfish is a different texture to other fish. I love it baked in the oven with a bit of milk and butter....tastes like crayfish.

Monkfish is sold as crab sticks in the supermarkets / fish-n-chip shops.

False advertising to the max!
And how insulting to the fish!!

I have some gurnard in the freezer, thanks for reminding me to get it out.        We had a hash up thing I make.  Chopped up onion, garlic,  chunks of ham, bacon, tomato,  cubed eggplant, whizzed up in some olive oil in the pan till the onion and eggplant is cooked lightly, throw in a couple of cups of rice and a handful of grated cheese.   Bung it in a gratin dish (or back into the eggplant shell if you wish) with a bit more sliced tomato and grated cheese on the top and brown it.
