A bizarre event has grounded a Japan Airlines flight at Los Angeles Airport.

The plane was taxiing to the runway for takeoff, when one of the metal bins airlines use for transporting luggage got sucked into the mouth of the engine.

The passengers and crew were taken off the jet again, which was towed to a near-by hangar for inspection.

It's not clear if the bin was full or empty, but an investigation is now underway into a definite case of excess baggage.
