oi..kj..just learnt of a disease which I think you need to get checked out for...."fictitious disorder"...finally cracked it Wink

read about it here...

AND WHY EXACTLY DOES THIS PIECE OF TRASH HAVE NAME SUPPRESSION?

A woman who faked having cancer and raised $15,000 on donation website Givealittle needs to “face the music”, a judge says.

The 23-year-old woman, who has name suppression, was scheduled to appear in Auckland District Court today, after pleading guilty in April to three charges of fraud and one of fraudulently obtaining a car lease, but did not show up.

She has missed several court appearances related to her case and her lawyer Alexander Steedman appeared on her behalf to request a month’s adjournment.

His client – who has “fictitious disorder” – was experiencing further health problems since giving birth three weeks ago, he said.

Judge Claire Ryan said she was “very alarmed” at the constant delays and requested police examine medical reports presented by the defence.

It would be a kindness to the woman and her victims if the case was resolved soon, the judge said.

“She needs to have her day in court – she needs to be sentenced.

“If I have to go to her bedside then I will.”

Here’s my idea:  arrest her, drop name suppression, and make sure everyone publishes her photo, name and why all this is happening to her.

Not only did she scam $15k out of good people, she’s now grinding down the justice system as well.  I’m sure her lawyer will be on legal aid, and the Court’s time is clearly being wasted.

And I don’t know, but something tells me this wasn’t a one-off, and it won’t be the last time this madam will try it on.  Giving a fraudster name suppression is simply irresponsible.

I'll tell you what...

I'll find the time to read, then comment on the above story when YOU find the time to click on all the links (and read the stories they open) and watch all of the video clips you claimed you didn't have time to watch because you were too busy. Seeing as you have the time to post heaps of shit on this group, use that time instead to read all of those stories the various links take you to and watch all of the videos mentioned, then post a summary about everything you have read and watched.

Then, I'll read the above story and comment on it.

Fair enough?

Auckland liquor store thief kept on ice till police arrive video
BROOKE BATH

Last updated 08:30, December 4 2015

An attempted robbery of a liquor outlet ended with the alleged thief being kept inside the chiller he had tried to steal from.

A man tried to make off from a popular Karangahape Road liquor store in central Auckland on Thursday night with two expensive bottles of alcohol before he was caught by employees.

Duty manager Pardeep Singh Jassal chased the thief onto the road and pulled him back into the store.

"He came at me and tried to punch my face, then he pushed Ravi and I had to defend myself," Jassal said.

He fought off the attacker with a metal rod then frantically pressed the store's panic button.

The man was stowed away in store's chiller, but before police arrived, he happily helped himself to a box of Cody's.

Jassal said keeping him in the chiller was the safest option before police help showed.

"There were people all on the street and it was busy, he was a very angry man," he said.

Jassal said this was the second attempted robbery on the store he had been involved in.

Three police units arrived at the Thirsty Liquor store about 9.30pm, where one man was taken away.

I could talk about safe sex, but this gives it a whole new way of looking at it

Man in Germany dies after blowing up condom machine

A man has died tragically after he and two others conspired to blow up a condom vending machine in an apparent robbery attempt, said German police.

He was hit in the head by a flying piece of metal.

The 29-year-old was brought by his two accomplices to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly afterwards from his injuries.

The two men, aged 27 and 29, told hospital staff that he had fallen down the stairs.

Suspicious, the hospital informed police of the case, and the truth later came to light after one of them admitted the victim's injuries were related to the blast, which occurred Friday in the western town of Schoeppingen, near the Dutch border.

Police found cash and condom packets lying on the ground at the scene of the incident. The men did not take any of the contents set loose by the explosion.

The three men had apparently gotten into a car after triggering the blast using a home-made explosive device, said police.

The deceased did not shut his door and was hit by debris when the device detonated.

Sounds a bit like the holiday from hell. It still amazes me that people don't wash their hands thoroughly. Tummy bugs and the like are everywhere these days and vigilance is needed in the cleanliness department.

Shona Maiden spoke to the New Zealand Herald and appeared on television news after the incident. She said the incident occurred when she spoke Te Reo outside the 123 Casino Karaoke Bar in Howick after New Year's Eve celebrations there.

Today police said a man and woman have both been charged with assault following their investigations, which involved reviewing CCTV footage from outside the venue.

Ms Maiden, who is of European and Maori descent, said she said "ka kite ano" (see you later) to people who had been standing outside.

The mother-of-four, who lives in Howick, said a man then swore and yelled at her, questioning why a "palagi" would use such words.

Ms Maiden admits she responded, telling the man to "f*** off."

She said he then punched her several times - knocking out five teeth, cracking her top plate and leaving her unable to eat and with facial injuries.

It is understood Ms Maiden, a single mother who appeared in media coverage with her young son, is the woman who has been charged.

"Police have investigated an incident that occurred outside the 123 Karaoke bar in Howick on Friday, 1 January 2016 and a decision has been made to prosecute a 46-year-old female and a 43-year-old male," the statement said.

"As part of the investigation, police have viewed CCTV footage of the alleged incident.

"The version of events given by the 46-year-old female is not substantiated by this footage."

Both will be summonsed to appear in court on assault charges on January 12.

Stuck cars pulled from surf, at a cost

Three Dunedin residents could only watch as their stranded cars were crashed by waves at Tomahawk Beach yesterday.

The cars had been there since about 9pm on Saturday, when one of the cars became stuck in the sand and two cars sent to help also became stuck.

The cars were removed by members of the public yesterday afternoon, but their owners were disappointed the people who came to their aid demanded they pay them $600 for their services.

Ali Ibrahim, the owner of the car which first became stuck, said he and his friends went to the beach to socialise and cook food.

When he tried to leave, he realised the vehicle was stuck in the sand and called for help. But both vehicles which came to assist also sank into the sand.

‘‘I called the AA and they said they could not do anything until tomorrow,'' Mr Ibrahim said.

Mr Ibrahim then called police, who gave the men a ride back to their homes.

Having looked at the pictures, their vehicle was a car not a 4 wheel drive. What the hell did they expect when they 'parked' their vehicle on the sand?

One man brain dead, 5 others hospitalized in French drug trial

By THOMAS ADAMSON | 5:41PM EST - Friday, January 15, 2016

PARIS — One man was brain dead and three others faced possible permanent brain damage after volunteering to take part in a drug trial for a painkiller based on a natural brain compound similar to the active ingredient in marijuana, French authorities said Friday.

The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation into what French Health Minister Marisol Touraine called “an accident of exceptional gravity” at a clinical trial lab in the western French city of Rennes.

The trial involved 90 healthy volunteers who were given the experimental drug in varying doses at different times, she told reporters at a news conference in Rennes.

Six male volunteers between 28 and 49 years old have since been hospitalized, including one man now classified as brain dead, Touraine said, adding that the other 83 volunteers were being contacted.

Calling the case “unprecedented,” Touraine said she was “deeply moved” by the suffering of the victims, who she met with earlier Friday, along with their families. “We'll do everything to understand what happened,” she said. “I don't know of any other event like this.”

The drug trial for the six hospitalized men began on January 7th and was halted on Monday, a day after the first volunteer fell ill.

The chief neuroscientist at the hospital in Rennes, Dr. Gilles Edan, said in addition to the brain-dead man, three other men could have “irreversible” brain damage. A fifth man is suffering from neurological problems and a sixth man is being kept in the hospital but is in less critical condition, he said.

Edan said there's no known way to reverse the effects of the experimental drug, which was given orally to healthy volunteers as part of a Phase 1 trial by Biotrial, a drug evaluation company based in Rennes, on behalf of the Portuguese pharmaceutical company Bial.

Touraine said that in addition to treating pain, the drug was intended to ease mood and anxiety troubles as well as motor problems linked to neurodegenerative illnesses by acting on the endocannabinoid system. In this system, natural brain compounds act on specific receptors to exert their effects. The experimental drug is based on a natural brain compound similar to the active ingredient in marijuana.

Touraine said the drug was not based on marijuana itself, as some media reports had claimed.

“This drug is not cannabis. It is not derived from cannabis. It works on the natural system that helps fight pain,” she said, adding that no drug currently on the market was implicated in the failed trial.

Bial, the Portuguese drug producer, said Friday that 108 healthy people had already taken part in trials involving the drug and had no moderate or serious reactions. Bial added that initial testing for the drug started in June following toxicology tests.

For the French volunteers, it was meant to be a way to earn extra money and help develop a drug to treat people with pain and anxiety. Adults volunteering for Biotrial tests can earn between 100 euros and 4,500 euros ($110 to $4,920).

It's rare for volunteers to fall seriously ill during Phase 1 trials, which study safe usage, side effects and other measures on healthy volunteers, rather than drug effectiveness. Researchers generally start with the lowest possible dose after extensive tests in animals, and Touraine said the drug had previously been tested on chimpanzees and other animals.

Biotrial, which also has offices in London and Newark, New Jersey, says it has over 25 years of experience in clinical trials and uses “state-of-the-art facilities.”

In 2006, Britain saw a similar incident, when six previously healthy men were treated for organ failure only hours after being given an experimental drug targeting the immune system. That prompted a review of procedures and resulted in the U.K. regulatory agency imposing new testing standards, including recommendations to use the lowest possible dose and to test new drugs only on one person at a time.

The six men in Britain now apparently have a higher risk of cancer and autoimmune diseases tied to their exposure to the experimental drug.

Dr. Ben Whalley, a neuropharmacology professor at Britain's University of Reading, said standardized regulations for clinical trials are “largely the same” across Europe.

“However, like any safeguard, these minimize risk rather than abolish it,” Whalley said in a statement. “There is an inherent risk in exposing people to any new compound.”

Associated Press writers Elaine Ganley in Paris, Barry Hatton in Lisbon and medical writer Maria Cheng in London contributed to this report.
