A Trump ‘Christmas Carol’: God help us, every one!

It's no wonder the president is haunted by the Mueller investigation, as even
with the bits and pieces that have been revealed in recent months it is clear
several people connected with his campaign had dealings with the Russians.

DONALD TRUMP has insisted that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference with the 2016 presidential election is a “witch hunt”. He has denied any collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives. However, as is the case with so many things in Trump's world, there is a big difference between what the president says and what the facts tell us.

In the real world, Mueller has filed charges against more than 30 people connected either to Trump or to Russian President Vladimir Putin and has gotten guilty pleas from Trump's campaign manager, his deputy campaign manager, his national security adviser, the foreign-policy adviser to his campaign and his personal attorney. That last individual, Michael Cohen — the fixer Trump used to pay off women with whom he is alleged to have had affairs — has now admitted to lying to Congress when he denied that he was working on Trump's behalf well into the 2016 campaign to do a big real estate deal with the Russians.

Even with just the bits and pieces that have been revealed in recent months, it is clear several people connected with the Trump campaign had dealings with the Russians. The big question to be answered is just how deeply Trump, himself, was involved. It is hardly surprising that the president is so haunted by the Mueller investigation.
