Islamic State claims responsibility for Orlando nightclub shooting

Islamic State's Amaq news agency said on Sunday that the Islamist militant group was responsible for the shooting that killed at least 50 people in a massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

"The armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter," Amaq said.

a radical islamic terrorist found a gay gun free zone and slaughtered lots of people
and some people with no common sense think it was a gun's fault

expect a lot more terrorist attacks and then
ban guns if you want more unarmed victims

if only they can get all the bad people to give up their guns
then everyone will be safe

OMAR MATEEN, WACKENHUT, AND THE CIA

Mateen's employer serves as a front for the CIA

Kurt Nimmo - JUNE 13, 2016

Omar Mateen worked for G4S, formerly known as Wackenhut, currently the largest security firm in the world.
This should raise a red flag. It hasn’t, at least not on the part of the establishment media.
They mention the fact Mateen was employed by the corporation and note he passed a security check. He carried a firearm “as part of his duties,” the company said on Sunday.
Why should Mateen’s employment raise a red flag?
Because of G4S, aka Wackenhut’s links to the CIA.

Before Wackenhut shed its name and became G4S, members included former FBI director Clarence Kelley, former Defense secretary and CIA deputy director Frank Carlucci, former Defense Intelligence Agency director Gen. Joseph Carroll, former Secret Service director James J. Rowley, former Marine commandant P.X. Kelley, former CIA deputy director Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, and previous to becoming CIA director, William J. Casey as outside legal counsel.
“The company’s board of directors reads like a who’s who of the intelligence community,” Joel Bleifuss wrote for In These Times in 1991. “The 1980s were a decade of privatization. As a for-profit intelligence service, Wackenhut appears to have taken on the kind of work that in earlier years the FBI and CIA would have done (and still do), albeit illegally.”
Casey is of particular interest. As the director of the CIA during the Reagan years, he revitalized covert operations from Central America to Afghanistan. He was a central player in the Iran-Contra affair. During his tenure, Casey “lunged into covert operations with tireless ambition. With President Reagan’s support, Casey’s CIA supported the Afghan rebels against the Soviet incursion,” writes Robert Nash (Spies: A Narrative Encyclopedia of Dirty Tricks and Double Dealing from Biblical Times to Today).
The Afghan rebels became al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
“For years, Wackenhut has been involved with the CIA and other intelligence organizations, including the Drug Enforcement Agency. Wackenhut would allow the CIA to occupy positions within the company in order to carry out clandestine operations,” terrorism expert and CIA analyst, William Corbett, told SPY Magazine in 1992.
“It is known throughout the industry,” retired FBI special agent William Hinshaw told the magazine, “that if you want a dirty job done, call Wackenhut.”
On its face, the fact Mateen worked for G4S, a reformatted Wackenhut, does not mean he was involved in covert activity.
However, as I noted yesterday, some of people he associated with are known to have worked for the CIA and the FBI.
Mateen was a follower of Marcus Dwayne Robertson, a former US Marine who acted as a bodyguard for the “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdul-Rahman. Robertson was the imam of the Orlando-based Fundamental Islamic Knowledge Seminary. In addition to working with the CIA, he was an FBI informant for 15 years. He is linked to al-Qaeda and the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. See Mateen Associated with Former Bodyguard of CIA Operative Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman.
All of this has been dutifully ignored by the establishment media. It is the job of The New York Times, The Washington Post (the crown jewel of Operation Mockingbird), and the rest of the corporate media to push the Islamic State and lone wolf narrative (and also the anti-gun agenda). This feeds paranoia and hysteria on the part of the public and provides consensus for the surveillance state, the ongoing war on terror abroad, and the police state at home

How the Islamic State exploits America's mass shooting problem

By ADAM TAYLOR | 12:23PM EDT - Monday, June 13, 2016

Law enforcement officials and relatives identified the gunman in Sunday's mass shooting at an Orlando
gay nightclub as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old from Fort Pierce, Florida. — Picture: MySpace.

IN MANY WAYS, Omar Mateen fits the stereotype of an American mass shooter. Mateen, who had a seemingly troubled family background, had significant problems with romantic relationships and seemed to have been frustrated in his career. When he chose to lash out, he targeted a place that he knew would be full of people. He was able to legally purchase the weapons to carry out the attack, despite having raised a few red flags a couple of years earlier.

Yet Mateen's brutal assault on a popular gay nightclub in Orlando — which killed at least 49 people, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history — is not being viewed in the same way as recent mass shootings by Dylann Roof, James Holmes or Adam Lanza. Instead, the shooting has quickly been placed deep inside a broader conversation about radicalization and the threat posed by the Islamic State militant group.

Why exactly? To many, the answer no doubt seems obvious. In a 911 call from the club during the attack, Mateen himself told a dispatcher that he was a follower of the Islamic State. Then, after the attack on Sunday, a news agency linked to the group, Amaq, released a statement that cited a “source” as saying that Mateen was an “Islamic State fighter.” Finally, Islamic State radio on Monday called him “one of the soldiers of the caliphate in America.”

These three strands of evidence were enough for many to link the attack on the nightclub to the Islamic State, with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump quickly taking to Twitter to blame “radical Islamic terrorism” and to reassert his support for a ban on Muslim arrivals to the United States. (Mateen was a U.S. citizen born in New York.)

Analysts, though, noted that there is a distinction between attacks directed by the Islamic State and those inspired by it — and it's a distinction the group likes to blur. “People are so ready to give the Islamic State as much credit as possible, as it's easier to compute,” said Charlie Winter, a terrorism analyst at Georgia State University. “The organization is getting exactly what it wants whenever it wants.”

At this early stage, it remains unclear whether there is a deeper link between Mateen and the Islamic State, but officials say they have seen no signs of a direct connection. This is a key point.

For example, the deadly attacks this year in Brussels were perpetrated by a network of individuals with serious ties to the Islamic State; in some cases, members of that network had traveled to the group's strongholds in Syria and Iraq and back to Europe. The Islamic State appeared to be crucially involved in the planning and execution of that attack.

On the other end of the scale, when Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik fatally shot 14 people at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, in December, it was later revealed that the couple had made a pledge of allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in a post on Facebook. But investigations have found no evidence that the Islamic State played a direct role in planning or perpetrating the attack: The couple appeared to have been inspired by the idea of the Islamic State, if nothing else.

Despite that, the Islamic State issued statements appearing to assert responsibility for both of the attacks. But there was a difference. Rita Katz, director of the SITE Intelligence Group, notes that after the Brussels attacks, the Islamic State “released communiques in half a dozen languages as well as audio messages and more” that claimed responsibility. There was nowhere near such an expression of support for the San Bernardino couple.

Katz says the Islamic State's response to the Orlando attack seems more similar to the San Bernardino response. Others agree. Aymenn Jawad al-Tamimi, a research fellow at the Middle East Forum who follows Islamic State media closely, says Amaq's use of the word “sources” may imply that it was testing the waters with its claim, but he also suggests that from the Islamic State's perspective, it was immaterial whether the organization had a direct role in the attack. “Any person who can carry out an attack in the West having pledged allegiance to the Islamic State is perfectly legitimate in the Islamic State's eyes,” Tamimi says.

In the past, the Islamic State has issued claims for attacks that later appeared to be contradicted by other reports. Winter suggests that “media strategists of the Islamic State” may wait and watch for the emerging “news media narrative” before deciding how to exploit it. “A lot of thought has gone into how best to structure this form of branding mechanism,” he says. The situation in Orlando appears to follow this pattern.

“ISIS found out about [Mateen's] pledge through the news media and embraced him as one of its own,” Katz says, using an acronym for the Islamic State.

In statements, Islamic State spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani has appeared to court those who may be willing to stage an attack in the West on their own, telling potential recruits that “the smallest action you do in their heartland is better and more enduring to us than what you would if you were with us.” The Islamic State was not necessarily the first extremist group to try to influence disgruntled Western citizens and residents — Winter notes that al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula also has tried something similar. But the Islamic State's strategy appears to have been more successful.

Such a strategy may appeal to religious extremists. It may also appeal to a troubled person intent on creating mass mayhem. The Orlando attack blurs the lines between terrorism and the United States' mass-shooting problem, setting off debates not only about radicalism but also about hate crimes and gun control in an especially polarized election year. As some analysts have noted, buying a gun in the United States can be far easier than creating a bomb — which generally requires some expertise.

The result of the strategy is simple: It makes the Islamic State look more powerful. But it also has a bigger effect — sowing the seeds of discord and division in the West.

America: Drunk on hate, dying for love

By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist | 1:50PM PDT - Monday, June 13, 2016

Straight up. When facing horror or tragedy, the country lights up even more for peace. It's never the other way around.
LEFT: Straight up. | RIGHT: When facing horror or tragedy, the country lights up even more for peace.
It's never the other way around.

FROM Jesus to Buddha, the Dalai Lama to MLK, the LGBT community to President Obama himself, in the face of horrendous violence, in the face of relentless stabs of blind hate, homophobia, racism, fear and death and a savage ignorance of God, the simple, but profoundly felt, call to love.

“As we come together, we will draw inspiration from heroic and selfless acts. Friends who helped friends, took care of each other and saved lives in the face of hate and violence. We'll love one another. We will not give in to fear or turn against each other,” said a deeply somber Obama, in the wake of yet another mass shooting, the 176th this year alone and the sixth in recent history where the shooter used the AR-15 assault rifle, the same one the NRA refuses to allow to be banned, because what's hundreds of murdered men, women and schoolchildren when it might lead to slightly more strict gun licensing laws, or restrictions on bringing a handgun to church or Walmart or college?

From ISIS to al Qaeda, from the American Family Association to the Family Research Council, from the NRA to Donald Trump to Republican members of congress, in the face of brutish violence, in the face of blind hate and moral destruction, religious extremism and the calculated poisoning of the human soul, the call to… hate even more.

“If you had guns in that room, if you had — even if you had a number of people having them strapped to their ankle or strapped to their waist, where bullets could have flown in the other direction right at him, you wouldn't have had the same kind of a tragedy,” oozed Trump, a gleeful sneer ever at his lips, as he went on to reiterate his call for even more severe crackdowns, bigger walls, sharper intolerance, an even more racist response to Muslims — a truly terrifying speech and all, of course, very much to the delight of ISIS itself, even though the Orlando shooter had no real ties to any terrorist organization, even though he was an American citizen, born in Trump's very own beloved New York City, worked for US companies, bought a house and wasn't mentally ill, was merely another morally warped, hated-filled homophobe with NRA-blessed access to all the guns he wanted.

Not all that different than Trump's core supporter base, really.

The NRA controls the Republicans. The Republicans, sadly, control congress. Congress won't allow even AR-15 assault weapons to be banned, despite how they've massacred hundreds, including schoolchildren, in America. No wonder he's somber.

Make America hatefully intolerant again.
Make America hatefully intolerant again.

Can it be any more plain? ISIS loves Donald Trump, and Trump can barely contain his gratitude for ISIS. They are bizarre brethren, a closed loop of inbred hate: The more ultra-violence that can be even remotely linked to radical Islam, the more Trump's toxic brand of moral panic can flourish. And the more Trump spouts anti-Islamic bigotry and hints at some sort of gruesome conspiracy, the more ISIS sees its vile master plan as unfolding exactly as it hopes.

Make no mistake: Trump practices the purest form of dark capitalism there is — completely bereft of heart, entirely devoid of humanity, seeing even murderous rampages as nothing short of a perfect business opportunity to further his agenda and amplify his own megalomania.

All of which means the choice, such as it is, has rarely been more stark: You either choose contraction, cruelty, more walls, the calculated savaging of the human soul, or you choose compassion, inclusion, expansion toward understanding. You cannot really have both. There is no such thing as blessing by gunfire. Real love is never armed. Guns have never been anything but instruments of pain, fear and the efficient annihilation of life. Kindness doesn't do assault weapons. And so on.

It's not at all murky or complex, really: You can numbly believe the world is, at its core, fueled by savagery and religious bile, the wolf ever at the door, and hence choose to add your own rage to the sickening chorus, perhaps by buying more guns and adding still more fear to the bloody pile (and Trump and ISIS will both love you for it), or you see the world as the exact opposite; full of exactly the kind of people, the kind of fearless, heart-centered intention that flooded into the Castro district in San Francisco and marched somberly to City Hall the day after the Orlando massacre, thousands of grievers, citizens, strangers of every shape and sexual orientation and belief system, rallying, crying, hugging and unifying around one central theme: shared humanity. Life.

Josh Butler

The good news, as such, is the same as it's always been: There are far more — hundreds of millions more — of the latter than the former. Love and unity are, and will always be, far more potent and central to human nature than hate.

But hate makes the headlines. Hate tears and screams and spits its orange-faced rage into the megaphone, desperate for attention. It is the foremost language and dominant ethos of the current Republican candidate for president, a pitilessly opportunistic charlatan who traffics in the lowest, ugliest form of moral currency known to man. It's pure poison, masquerading — in a very dumb hat — as moral outrage.

Which is to say: Maybe America really isn't at some terrible, ignoble crossroads after all. Despite Trump's nasty success at molesting the already self-molesting US election system, maybe we're not really on a potentially cataclysmic cusp of becoming a gnarled authoritarian cesspool, our dignity forever humiliated. It's simply not the nature of humanity, the natural bend of justice.

After all, most of America, in the face of hate and pain, rallied, fought and lit up for love. What finer choice could there possibly be?

from The Washington Post....

The Orlando shooting shows again that it always comes back to the guns

By RICHARD COHEN | 7:24PM EDT - Monday, June 13, 2016

A Rock River Arms AR-15. — Photograph: Joe Raedle/Getty Images.
A Rock River Arms AR-15. — Photograph: Joe Raedle/Getty Images.

A MAN walks into a nightclub with an AR-15. It is similar to the weapon I was trained on in the Army. It was designed for combat, to kill as many of the enemy as possible in the shortest amount of time. I was pretty good with it, even earned a marksmanship badge, but when the training was over and we returned to the barracks, our weapons were placed in their racks and all bullets were taken from us. Once, a somewhat goofy member of my platoon slipped a round into his pocket. We all felt unnerved. What did he have in mind?

Now, an even more lethal version of that weapon is readily available on the market. If you told me back in my Army days that I could have bought the same weapon that I had been using in training, I would not have believed it. You might as well have mentioned a tank or a bazooka or a Bangalore torpedo, a handy bit of explosive useful for shredding barbed wire. And yet, this is what I get when I Google “AR-15”:

“Not sure what type of AR you want to build? Look through our AR-15, AR-10 and other AR rifles available, all at great prices at Grab A Gun. Buy Today.”

One is available for $483.18. Maybe you get it for less if you buy two.

But it only took one — plus a handgun — to kill 49 people at the Pulse club in Orlando. The shooter was mentally deranged. He was Muslim. He was born in New York. He had been married and he hated gays and he saw them kissing and he was nauseated by the sight…. The details intrigue and overwhelm and make this atrocity seem different from the previous ones, of which there are now so many. But it is always the same. It is always about guns.

At moments like this, two people pop into my head. The first is Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association. He has said that Americans need assault weapons, lest “jack-booted government thugs … break in our doors, seize our guns, destroy our property and even injure or kill us.” How he left out the rape of our virgin women, I shall never know — probably an oversight.

The NRA has led the way in the mainstreaming of a demented gun ideology. It has been aided by a severe reading of the Second Amendment, which represents the thinking of 18th-century men and their desire for a militia. They were not infallible. They countenanced slavery (some of them were slave owners) and the disenfranchisement of women, and they created that undemocratic concoction called the Electoral College by which a one-vote margin is tantamount to a landslide.

My second person is Ralph Nader. He is much vilified now for his 2000 presidential run, which may have cost Al Gore the presidency, but before that he took the American automobile industry to task for the cars it made. He argued that you could hector people to drive safely until the cows came home, but accidents would happen anyway. Some people would speed. Some would run lights. Some would drink, and now they would text. So you had to design a car to withstand a crash. You have to save people from themselves.

It is the same with guns. Some politician will say we have to do something about mental health. (Hah! We can't even keep nuts from running for president.) The one thing we can do something about is guns. Leaving aside handguns and hunting weapons, what's the justification for possessing an AR-15? What's the justification for a semi-automatic weapon with a magazine of 30 rounds? A shooter can get off 30 rounds in about half a minute. Pop in another magazine and that's another 30 rounds. In a crowded space, it can take less than a minute to shoot 50 people.

So, let's go back to that rifle range at Fort Dix, New Jersey. I have just earned my marksmanship badge and, accordingly, I get a weekend pass. I rush back to the barracks, shower and change into civilian clothes. As I bolt out the door, my platoon sergeant, the thoroughly intimidating Peter Grande, by actual name, hands me my rifle and says I can take it with me for the weekend. Absurd, you say? Not as absurd as this: Nowadays I could say, “Thanks, Sarge, but I already have one at home.”

Prior to my retirement, I was researching a matter and found that the best estimate for firearms in New Zealand, was 4.5 million.  This figure, of course, includes those that may be lost or destroyed in some way.

Another interesting fact that emerged, was that prior to Banks's wankfest over MSSA firearms, there were around 740 of these in the Hawkes Bay region alone.  Somewhere in the region of 40 -50 were presented for licencing under cat. A.  The rest vanished into the mist somewhere.
Once again, some of these missing self loaders may have been reconfigured into legal weapons by removing the handgrip and converting the magazine, but the majority are believed to have gone underground, so as to speak.

I would assume the same would apply to other districts - so somewhere out there is a store of SLR's, Kalashnikovs and the like that the authorities have no handle on.

I read that New Zealand has more firearms per capita than America.  We know that the Swiss have an automatic carbine in practically every home.

It is obvious to anyone able to shunt more than two brain cells into line, that there is more to Americas mass killings than the possession of firearms.

i have a friend who has an amazing gun collection he has all the correct licenses has tommy guns german anti aircraft guns,357 magnums ak47s guns from the wild west, shotguns machine guns of all kinds, sniper rifles and most handguns, so many weapons film companies have come to him to record sound bites from his guns for movies,
he has enough weapons to arm a small army yet he is a good person who would never harm another human being
but he loves the engineering of weapons and could easy make most any of the weapons he has in his workshop because of his engineering skills.

he has been carefully vetted by the police so nobody needs to worry about any of his guns jumping up out of his gun safe and killing anyone.
guns are not the problem people are the problem, people kill and never have any problem finding the tools to do the job.

people should be allowed to protect their lives and their families in their own home from invaders, 3 times i have needed to repel people bursting into my home and so far i have been lucky but when push comes i will defend myself or die trying,i refuse to crawl up into a ball while waiting for the police to arrive after it's too late,i will not lay down without putting up a fight.
i really do not have the desire to hurt anyone but if i am forced to i would kill to save any member of my family and sleep well after it.
i refuse to be a victim.

The issue of islam is a red herring.

A mentally-ill person had delusions that he was a soldier of ISIS and took advantage of America's lax gun laws to commit mass-murder.

Naturally, the propagandists at ISIS are only too happy to claim responsibility for something they knew absolutely nothing about until it happened.

The worst mass shooting?
A look back at massacres in U.S. history…

AFTER news broke on Sunday of the gunman who stormed an Orlando, Florida, nightclub, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others, news organizations began comparing the attack with other high-profile mass shootings.

The Los Angeles Times, like many outlets, called it “the deadliest in American history”.

Critics pushed back, saying the phrase was inaccurate and disrespectful to darker chapters of American history. Death tolls, they pointed out, were much higher in other shootings more than a century ago, including race riots and labor disputes in the early 1900s and massacres perpetrated by the U.S. Army or settlers in the American West.

The dispute largely boils down to definitions.

“The term ‘mass shooting’ is imprecise,” said Grant Duwe, director of research at the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the author of a book about mass murders in the U.S. Instead, he said, the events that Americans today recognize as mass shootings, including the death of 28 people in Newtown, Connecticut, and the San Bernardino terrorist attack, are “mass public shootings.”

Mass public shootings take place in public or semi-public places such as schools or entertainment venues, Duwe said, and are not a by-product of another type of crime, such as a robbery, a gang turf war or an act of domestic violence. Murder is the goal.

The killings, carried out by a lone shooter or a small number of attackers, unfold in hours or less, separating them from serial killer shootings that occur over weeks, months or years. The definition does not typically include killings that are part of military operations.

By that definition, the Pulse nightclub shooting is the deadliest mass public shooting in U.S. history.

But critics counter that the more narrow terminology prevents comparisons with some of the nation's bloodiest chapters.

“It's important to put the Pulse shooting in historical context not to minimize the terror wreaked by a disturbed and bigoted individual’s easy access to military-grade weapons, but to recognize that gun culture in the U.S. has gone hand in hand with violent hatred for a long time,” USC law professor Ariela Gross wrote on Tuesday in a Wall Street Journal op-ed.

In the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century, people in positions of power, such as cavalry members and religious groups, often murdered the so-called have-nots, Duwe said. “In a lot of those cases, we seldom see anyone who was ever charged,” he said.

A broader definition of “mass shooting” includes many of those incidents. Among them:

  • Sand Creek Massacre: In 1864, about 675 soldiers rode toward a tribal campsite in eastern Colorado and opened fire, killing more than 165 Cheyenne and Arapaho tribe members. More than half the dead were women and children, according to the National Park Service. Black Kettle, a Cheyenne chief, is said to have waved a white flag as the troops approached. He survived the massacre and was killed four years later by General George Armstrong Custer.

  • Clear Lake Massacre: In 1850, a U.S. cavalry unit descended on a tribe of Pomo Indians living on an island in Lake County, California, and killed at least 60 men, women and children. The army had sought revenge for the death of two white settlers who had “long enslaved, brutalized and starved indigenous people in the area,” according to a plaque placed at the site by the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

  • Wounded Knee Massacre: In 1890, U.S. Army troops near Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota opened fire on Lakota Chief Big Foot and a band of his tribe. More than 150 men, women and children were killed.

Other mass shootings involved altercations between pioneer settlers and communities already established in the West, including the Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857. A wagon train headed to California was attacked by Mormons as it passed through southwest Utah. About 120 people were killed.

Some notable racial and class-based clashes in the late 19th and early 20th century could also be considered mass shootings:

  • Rock Springs massacre: In 1885, a group of white men and women fatally beat and shot at least 28 Chinese immigrant laborers during a riot at a coal mine in southwestern Wyoming. Historians say the riot was sparked by growing displeasure over the mine's practice of hiring Chinese workers and paying them a lower wage than American citizens.

  • Tulsa race riots: A white mob attacked black residents in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1921 and burned down the Greenwood neighborhood, which was then the wealthiest black business district in the United States. Modern estimates place the death toll at 50 to 300 people, many of them shot.

  • Elaine massacre: Black men in Elaine, a small town in eastern Arkansas, met in the fall of 1919 to discuss how to collect more money for their cotton crops. During the meeting, a white man who was deputized was shot. In the riot that followed, as many as 200 black people were shot and killed.

The NRA is wrong: This is exactly the right time to talk about guns

THE WEEK after the Orlando terrorist attack, we are told, is no time for a debate on gun control. Expanding the list of people who cannot legally own guns or tightening background checks would not have stopped this particular tragedy. Omar Mateen, an American citizen inspired by some combination of radicalism, hate and despair to kill 49 people at a gay nightclub, was not on a terrorist watch list. Better background checks may not have stopped him. If assault weapons were banned, he might have used other kinds of guns. If the government mandated smart guns, Mateen's fingerprints would still have allowed him to pull the trigger, because he was the legitimate owner of the weapons he used for his slaughter.

The National Rifle Association and other extremists use a form of this jujitsu every time a mentally ill person or a hater uses the efficient killing machines known as guns to inflict mass death. But in an era of lone-wolf radicalization, the aftermath of a homegrown terrorist attack is exactly the time to talk about sensible limits on gun ownership. After Sandy Hook would have been the right time. After Umpqua would have been the right time. Headline-grabbing mass shootings remind us of how good guns are at killing people. They also remind us — or should — that a rational government would regulate such dangerous products, just as it regulates cars, pharmaceuticals and other more useful things.

Of course the government cannot legislate an end to gun violence. But it can take measures that would reduce gun violence without infringing on constitutional rights.

Congress is debating ways to end gun sales to suspected terrorists, a policy that lawmakers realize must come with due-process protections for those under suspicion. Even if it would not have prevented Orlando, this reform might force the next homegrown terrorist to work harder to find his firearms, raising attention as he does, or to give up. Another proposal would deny guns to people who have misdemeanor hate-crime convictions, which poses fewer due-process issues.

But these ideas are hardly the only, or the most important, gun-control reforms that lawmakers should be considering. Research increasingly shows that universal background checks could help cut gun violence; without them, merely adding to the list of people who cannot legally own guns is not as effective. Requiring safeguards such as fingerprint readers, meanwhile, would stop children and suicidal family members from shooting themselves or others with a weapon stored at home. Banning high-capacity magazines would at least force mass murderers to reload more often. If Congress unleashed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study gun violence, the government would have the data to know which set of policies would work best and which ideas would less usefully restrict gun ownership.

Tragedies would still happen, and the NRA would still argue that the rules are useless. But, over time and on average, fewer people would die. That is a legitimate goal.

ktj you seem to love pushing the emotional rhetoric instead of using logic which leaves me wondering if you were a child of a single parent you do seem like a bit of mummies boy

Bad People Can Always Get Weapons
if you try to removed them you only succeed driving up the price people will pay to get them
giving the illegal arms sellers an incentive to make big profits

Quote
• Survivor on Orlando gunman: ‘He was not going to stop killing people until he was killed’

the first problem was these victims were unarmed and they were a soft target, the police took about 2 to 3 hours to react
which gave the muslim madman enough time to walk around and finish off the wounded.

you showed people that were killed with guns so all you prove is its best to fight fire with fire
or you become the victim of criminals who are armed with guns or the victim of government
enforcement officers who are armed with guns

obama has secret service bodyguards armed with guns,so does clinton,so does trump most of them live in safe spaces gated communities whereas the common people do not have the same luxury of 24 7 protection, so if you unarm the people all you will do is make people easy targets for any armed thug.

if you make the laws tougher like perhaps life in prison for thugs committing armed crimes then those people become more desperate when cornered and would often rather die shooting at police or they will kill the witnesses of their crimes rather than spend the rest of their life in prison being some 200 pound guys bitch.

Reporter says firing AR-15 gave him ‘temporary form of PTSD cough pussy

By Douglas Ernst - The Washington Times - Wednesday, June 15, 2016
A writer for the New York Daily News said firing an AR-15 for the first time Monday left him with “a temporary form of PTSD.”
Gersh Kuntzman headed off to a Philadelphia gun range after Sunday’s terror attack in Orlando, Florida, to “better understand the firepower of military-style assault weapons and, hopefully, explain their appeal to gun lovers.”
The experience of firing 5.56 mm rounds from a semi-automatic rifle, which he likened to “a bazooka” — left him a shaken man.
“The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable,” he wrote Tuesday.
Backlash against Mr. Kuntzman’s PTSD claim prompted him to update the original piece.
“Many people have objected to my use of the term ‘PTSD’ in the above story,” he wrote in his addendum. “The use of this term was in no way meant to conflate my very temporary anxiety with the very real condition experienced by many of our brave men and women in uniform. I regret the inarticulate use of the term to describe my in-the-moment impression of the gun’s firepower, and apologize for it.”Mr. Kuntzmanpublished a followup piece Wednesday — titled “To gun lovers, you can’t even have an opinion on assault rifles — unless it’s theirs. Here’s the proof” — that predictably did little to quell his critics.
“Hey there Cupcake!” reader Gary Haney wrote. “I have never subscribed to the idea of ‘gender confusion,’ but after reading your article on the AR-15, I’m a believer because there is no way you and I are the same gender. You should surrender your testicles to the Department of Girlymen. I’m not sure where it’s located, but your girlfriend Barack does!”
Mr. Kuntzman said one of his favorite responses came from Adam Prolo, who wrote, “Maybe you can get some balls through Obamacare!”
The writer said, “if masculinity is defined by the power to commit violence on a wide scale, I proudly choose femininity.”

ktj
is connected to the self hating leftist borg hive mind, which by its very nature is a sub human species that is an anti freedom cult of stupid ignorant zombies
that need to be dominated and then caged in a gulag to save the normal human beings from being infected with their leftist marxist ideology which seems to have evolved into a form of self hating mental illness.

These types of unhinged leftist individuals act really clownishly silly but keep telling everyone how intelligent they are and it's everyone else that is the problem and not them lol,
these leftist members of the SJW network of fools should be forced to live in an islamic nation that is fully under the control of a tough iron fist and a Islamic penal code, known as Sharia law.
these leftist knuckle dragging zombies need this type of discipline to heal them from their madness and to make them feel safe.

Breaking: France Suppressed Truth About 2015 Paris Attacks - Club Victims Tortured to Death

A French government committee has heard testimony, suppressed by the French government at the time and not released to the media, that the killers in the Bataclan tortured their victims on the second floor of the club during the 2015 Paris attacks.

Police witnesses in Parliament said they vomited when they saw the disfigured bodies.

Islamic killers apparently gouged out eyes, castrated victims, and shoved their testicles in their mouths while they were still alive. They may also have disemboweled some poor souls. Women were stabbed in the genitals – and all the torture was, victims told police, filmed for ISIS or Islamic State propaganda. For that reason, medics did not release the bodies of torture victims to the families, investigators said.

Investigator: After the assault, we were with colleagues at the passage Saint-Pierre Amelot when I saw weeping from one of our colleagues who came outside to vomit. He told us what he had seen.

These are the questions recently asked by the investigator and the answers received:
Q. "Did acts of torture happened on the second floor?"

A. "Bodies were not presented to families because there were beheaded people there, the murdered people, people who have been disemboweled. There are women who had their genitals stabbed."

Q. "All this would have been videotaped for ISIS?"

A. "I believe so. Survivors have said so."

Elsewhere the investigator says women were sexually tortured, stabbed in the genitals, and their eyes were plucked out while they were still alive. People were also executed through decapitation. These facts were suppressed by the French government.

"Mr. President Georges Fenech Indeed, the Committee is troubled by this information which has appeared nowhere [in the media]. Thus, the father of one of the victims sent me a copy of a letter he sent to the investigating judge, which I quote in summary":

they had cut off his testicles, had put them in his mouth, and he was disemboweled. When I saw him behind glass, lying on a table, a white shroud covering it up to the neck, a psychologist was with me. He said: This is “the only presentable part, your son’s left profile.” I found that he had no right eye. I made the remark; I was informed that they had punctured his eye and sliced down the right side of his face, where there was a very large hematoma that we could all see. ”

This particular witness could corroborate the statements that we heard from one of the BAC officials, that one of his investigators vomited immediately on leaving the Bataclan after finding a decapitation and evisceration.

Q. "Are you aware of such facts?"

The prosecutor replied lamely that perhaps shrapnel had caused the mutilation. The head of the committee asked if an explosion would have placed testicles in a victim’s mouth:

Prosecutor: I specify, for the sake of clarity: some of the bodies found at the Bataclan were extremely mutilated by the explosions and weapons, to the point that it was sometimes difficult to reconstruct the dismembered bodies. In other words, injuries described this father may also have been caused by automatic weapons, by explosions or projections of nails and bolts that have resulted.

Q. "Would those have put a man’s genitals in his own mouth?"

Prosecutor: "I do not have that information."

The news follows reports that German police sat on the huge number of sexual assaults committed by Islamist migrants in Cologne, which a secret report estimated at thousands, not hundreds.

What else are they not telling us?

US-Backed Syrian Rebel Group Beheads Child

Syrian rebel fighters from the US-backed rebel group Nour-al-din el-Zanki have beheaded a child thought to be 11-13 in a shocking video.

US-backed Syrian rebels, screaming "Allahu Akbar,"  brutally beheaded a child named Abdullah Issa. The shocking clip shows fighters from Nour-al-din el-Zanki telling the camera, "These are the prisoners from Liwa al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigade – a Palestinian militia group). He [Assad] can't stoop any lower. He sent us children today, are you sending us children?"

America funds Nour-al-din el-Zanki, which fights against the Assad regime.

Liwa al-Quds (The Jerusalem Brigade) is a pro-Assad Palestinian paramilitary group. The rebel group accused the boy of being a spy.

Referring to the prisoner, one jihadi says, "These are the dogs of Assad. These are your people Bashar." Another says, "We shall not leave anyone in Handarat," the Palestinian refugee camp where a battle between regime and rebel forces is currently taking place.

To shouts of "Takbir" and "Allahu Akbar," a fighter from the group saws through the neck of Abdullah Issa. In a grisly scene, he then holds the head aloft and exclaims "Allahu Akbar" several more times.

Reports of Issa's age vary between 11 and 13. Some say he was an 11-year old Palestinian from Handarat; others say he is a Syrian from the city of Homs.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights manager Rami Abdel Rahman told France Press, "The child is no more than 13-years old. He was arrested today in the area of Handarat, but the slaughtering happened in el-Mashab neighborhood.

"This is one of the most terrible execution acts that I have seen since the revolution began in Syria," he added.

Activists affiliated with the group which killed the boy claimed he was actually 19, and that the video makes him look a lot younger than he really is.

The beheading video was published in the early hours of Tuesday morning on social media networks, according to BBC Arabic.

The rebel group condemned the beheading and said it was perpetrated by individuals who do not represent the group. "All of the people who carried out this violation have been arrested and brought before a disciplinary tribunal," the group said in a statement.

"The movement of Nour al-Din el-Zanki condemns the inhuman violation, since they believe in the principles and the targets of the revolution and the principle of human rights and the international agreements and the sharia. This violation doesn't reflect us and a one-time mistake does not reflect the general policy of the movement," the statement read.

The group also used the statement to blame international actors, saying the group "holds the international community fully responsible for keeping silent about the crimes regime forces are perpetrating which represent the lowest level of barbaric crimes committed under the ears and the eyes of the world and are represented by a killing machine which slaughters thousands of citizens."

Liwa al-Quds denied any connection with the child. A spokesman for the group said, "We don't recruit children, and all of our fighters wear military uniforms not civilian clothes. We are trying to locate the family of the child and find out his story and the place where he was kidnapped from."
