from the Los Angeles Times....

GOP leaders reel from Donald Trump's conquest of their party

By DAVID HORSEY | 5:00AM PDT - Friday, May 06, 2016

THE last two Republican presidents — who both happen to be named Bush — are refusing to endorse their party's presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump. Mitt Romney, Bob Dole and Arizona Senator John McCain, the three living Republicans who won the nomination but fell short of the White House, have not endorsed Trump. The Republican speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, announced on Thursday that he is not ready to support Trump because he wants “a standard-bearer that bears our standards”.

Those are just the most familiar names among prominent Republicans who are staying off the Trump bandwagon. Nothing like this has ever happened. Even in 1964, when many well-known Republicans were horrified by Barry Goldwater's nomination, the 1960 nominee, Richard Nixon, campaigned for Goldwater, and the most recent GOP president at the time, Dwight Eisenhower, gave him a tepid endorsement.

This year, many Republican leaders are not merely shunning Trump, some are looking for a candidate to run against him to give conservative voters an option other than sitting out the election or voting for the Democratic nominee. Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse has forcefully come out against Trump, and now a political action committee has formed to draft Sasse for a third-party ticket. When asked if he would run, Sasse said, “Absolutely not!” Sasse may truly not be interested, but someone else could be. It really does not matter who it is because those pushing for a third candidate do not care about winning, they just want to make sure Trump loses.

All these Republican insiders seem as freaked out by the possibility of a Trump victory as they are by the prospect of him losing big and dragging down GOP candidates for the Senate and the House. They are serious people who really do not want their commander-in-chief to be a man who claims to know all about Russia because he ran a Miss Universe beauty contest in Moscow, a guy who would put as much stock in bogus news stories from National Enquirer as he would a national security briefing.

And, whether they think Trump has a chance to win, they really do not want their conservative party to become the tool of a man whose political principles are highly elastic. That's what Ryan means when he implies Trump falls short of the party's “standards”.

Unlike those past Republican nominees and presidents, Ryan does not have the luxury of skipping out on the GOP convention in Cleveland this July. As speaker, he is slotted to chair the convention. Will he still be able to withhold his endorsement, even after he runs the roll call that makes Trump the nominee? When the red, white and blue balloons rain from the ceiling and Trump brings his glamorous family onstage for his moment of triumph, will Ryan be standing close by? Or will he find that is a good time for a bathroom break?

There will be many such awkward moments awaiting Republican leaders in the months to come. That is what happens to a party that does not realize it is being conquered until the wild usurper and his rebellious horde are already inside the gates.

At this point I think the rest of the world would be much happier if the American people are smart enough to vote in any democrat over Trump.

In the event Trump gets in, I suspect the rhetoric will vanish and a more sophisticated Trump will appear.
If you look at his band of supporters, they range from black to Hispanic and all shades between.
As I have said before, the big bank, old family establishment rule-as-of-right have pissed the people off too greatly and they have now reacted.

If the country can put a Peanut farmer, an actor, a half-wit riding on daddy's coat-tails, and [washes mouth out] a lawyer in as president, a successful businessman should be no big deal.
I think that unfortunately, the couldn't-lie-straight-in-bed, devious, prevaricating, old establishment candidate Hilary Clinton, may head Trump off.
Sad.

I personally think trump will destroy hillary clinton because he knows all the dirt on her and there is a lot of dirt

There is no doubt, if Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton were anyone else, they would already be in jail for their crimes.

Instead, Hillary is running for President, and she is ruthless. Beyond being an incompetent Secretary of State during the terrorist attack in Benghazi, she has decades of scandals that younger voters weren’t even alive to live through.

Famous actor and martial arts expert Chuck Norris is tired of Hillary’s corruption, especially the illegal fundraising practices of the Clinton Foundation, which has raised millions of dollars from hostile foreign countries in exchange for political favors in America.

In his latest column, Chuck takes the gloves off about “Hilpocrisy!”

Of course, you know how Hillary clearly discarded the Freedom of Information Act and federal government requirements through the former secretary of state’s use of a private email account for all her official business and then dumping half of her email. Just last week, senior State Department Assistant Secretary of State for Administration Joyce Barr told the Senate Judiciary Committee that Hillary’s email use was “not acceptable”: “I think the message is loud and clear that that is not acceptable.”
And yet, mainstream media and liberal progressives gave her another free pass.

Regarding Benghazi, as Ben Shapiro argued in his book, “The People vs. Barack Obama,” “[T]hose Americans are dead because of Hillary Clinton’s negligence. Clinton may not merely be guilty of negligent homicide – she could also be guilty of violations of the Arms Export Control Act and the Espionage Act for her department’s movement of guns into Libya and Syria without Congressional authorization.”
And this Norman Hsu scandal wasn’t long ago, but how many people remember it? Or the scandals involving her corrupt family? Chuck does!

But do you remember during her first 2007 presidential run, when she acknowledged receiving $850,000 in campaign contributions from convicted criminal Norman Hsu and his intermediaries?
Lowell Ponte explained that, as investigators Edward Timperlake and William Triplett II exposed in their book “Year of the Rat,” during former President Bill Clinton’s presidency, contributors to the Clintons included agents of Chinese organized crime Triad gangs that closely work with China’s Communist government. They would visit the White House, periodically carrying large brown paper bags stuffed with $100 bills.[…]

Remember when Hillary muscled a law firm coordinating lawsuits against the tobacco industry to allow her brother reap some of the benefits – to the tune of $7,000 per hour for his legal work?

And yet, mainstream media and liberal progressives gave her another free pass.

And let’s not forget Hillary’s “miraculous $100,000 from a $1,000 investment in cattle futures through a political favor-seeker in Arkansas” or her “feigned surprise that subpoenaed missing Rose Law Firm billing records were found next to her living quarters in the White House,” again as Ponte noted.
Boom! That will leave a mark. Chuck Norris cuts right to the core about how seriously corrupt Hillary Clinton is.

She hasn’t taken questions from the media in almost a month, but she is given a pass. The last time we heard from her, she was driving around in a van and eating at Chipotle… In the mean time, the liberal media is avoiding asking the tough questions about what seems to be a criminal enterprise: Clinton Inc!

Do you stand with Chuck Norris and oppose Hillary Clinton in 2016? Please leave us a comment and tell us what you think.

Whereas Donald Trump tells BLATANT LIES every day and even when the TRUTH is held up, Donald Trump continues with the same LIES.

Obviously Sexy prefers LIARS to anybody else.

As do plenty of STUPID Americans.

The rest of the world needs to take some responsibility about this too. How about we in the other countries elect strong leaders that threaten to sanction drone strikes against useless US presidents. Even our own PM is absolutely gutless for not suggesting this.

The rhetoric may change but I am still worried about which crackpot ideas that Trump has already voiced will sneak through if he and his party are elected.

I am not mad keen on either of the two democrats but they more consistent.

True.  they are consistent.  We can expect the usual destabilisation of sovereign governments the old establishment perceive to be detrimental to their interests if Clinton or her running-dog are elected - the same as has been happening since the 1930s under the old money families, that started with China and Japan.

Offshore Tax Haven Leak Implicates Seven-Figure Pro-Clinton Donor
Donald Sussman listed as director of Virgin Islands-based shell company

BY: Lachlan Markay
May 10, 2016 2:25 pm

One of the Democratic Party’s largest 2016 donors directs an offshore entity named in a massive leak of information on foreign corporations used by the world’s wealthiest people to shield their assets.

Hedge fund manager Donald Sussman has donated more than $7 million since last year to Democratic candidates, party organs, and outside spending groups supporting Hillary Clinton’s Democratic presidential bid.

Sussman, until recently the husband of Rep. Chellie Pingree (D., Maine), is the fifth most prolific donor to Democrats this cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

According to information leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, Sussman is a director of Simply Radiant Ltd., a company based in the British Virgin Islands.

Sussman’s firm, Paloma Partners, is a Simply Radiant shareholder, as are Paloma subsidiaries Golden Mountain Partners and Sunrise Partners, ICIJ data show. Paul Wolansky, a former managing director at the Paloma Partners, is listed as a Simply Radiant director.

An individual named Harry S. Campbell is also listed as a director. He was previously a director of Cathay Investment Fund Ltd., in which Paloma is a major shareholder.

It was not immediately clear what exactly Simply Radiant is or does. Paloma did not respond to requests for additional information on the company.

Its ties to Simply Radiant were revealed through a leak of information from the Singapore-based corporate law and accounting firm Portcullis TrustNet, which maintains Simply Radiant’s records.

The release, which ICIJ dubbed “Offshore Leaks,” exposed thousands of companies registered by, and often incorporated at, one of TrustNet’s seventeen global offices.

Offshore Leaks was a predecessor to the more recent Panama Papers leak, which has exposed additional information about how the world’s wealthiest use offshore corporations to shield their involvement in offshore tax havens.

“The main product that TrustNet sells can be summarized in one word — secrecy,” according to ICIJ.

“The firm helps ensure names, finances, business interests and political links remain hidden. It does this using a variety of methods, such as creating maze-like layers of companies and financial trusts in multiple countries and in many cases helping clients open overseas bank accounts in the names of anonymous companies rather than in their own names.”

The use of offshore tax havens has become a rallying cry for Democrats such as presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton, who derides companies that use them to shield assets from U.S. tax collectors.

“Hillary will crack down on companies that shift profits overseas to avoid paying their fair share in U.S. taxes,” Clinton’s campaign website says.

Sussman previously faced scrutiny over his apparent efforts to claim tax breaks in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Despite that controversy and his ties to TrustNet’s network of offshore corporate entities, he has been one of the most prolific supporters of groups backing Clinton’s candidacy.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Sussman has donated $4 million to pro-Clinton Super PAC Priorities USA Action; $1.5 million to Women Vote, a pro-Clinton Super PAC affiliated with the group Emily’s List; and $100,000 to Correct the Record, a Super PAC coordinating directly with Clinton’s campaign.

Sussman has given another $600,000 to various arms of the Democratic Party, and smaller sums to a host of Democratic congressional candidates. They included the maximum legal contribution to Pingree, who announced last year that she and Sussman were seeking a divorce.

Sussman is a board member of the Center for American Progress, a pro-Clinton group that has heavily criticized corporations and individuals implicated in ICIJ leaks. He is also affiliated with the Democracy Alliance donor club, which helps finance CAP.

Other donors to Clinton and the groups supporting her have also been implicated in the Panama Papers and related leaks. Jim Simons, another hedge fund manager and seven-figure Priorities USA donor, has benefitted from the types of tax schemes identified by the leaks.

The Podesta Group, a lobbying firm founded by Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and his brother, a Clinton campaign fundraiser, represents the U.S. arm of a Russian bank implicated in the Panama Papers.

Donald Trump: Stonewaller, shape-shifter, liar

THE past few weeks have offered Americans a chilling glimpse of three faces of Donald Trump: the stonewaller, the shape-shifter and the liar.

Trump the stonewaller has been on display in his refusal to release his tax returns. “It's none of your business,” Trump flatly told ABC News's George Stephanopoulos when asked about his effective tax rate.

Stephanopoulos: “Yes or no, do you believe voters have a right to see your tax returns before they make a final decision?”

Trump: “I don't think they do. But I do say this, I will really gladly give them.”

Sure, he'd be happy to — except that he isn't. And it is our business. Voters are entitled to know this information about a candidate for president, a person who would help steer the nation's finances. For decades, presidential candidates have routinely made this material available.

It is astonishing that Trump believes he is exempt from this norm — that a pending audit makes his returns less important to see, not more, or that he is not obliged to find some other way of providing the information, such as returns from earlier years or summary data for the years still under review.

Even more worrisome is what this high-handed approach augurs for a Trump presidency: to airily promise transparency while repeatedly failing to deliver. It is an iron law of politics that candidates do not magically become more forthcoming once in office. Their behavior on the campaign trail, when under pressure to satisfy voters, represents a better version of what they would do on the job.

Then there is Trump the shape-shifter, a man without fixed views and whose policy proposals are mere opening gambits. What does he believe? What is a core principle, and what is up for negotiation?

“I'm allowed to change,” Trump told Stephanopoulos on the minimum wage. (He didn't want it raised, then he did, now maybe not.) Certainly, flip-flopping is a chronic and common political condition; it can be evidence of open-mindedness rather than craven politicking or ideological spinelessness.

Yet Trump's proclaimed “flexibility” is unsettling because it does not rest on an existing edifice of long-expressed conviction and recorded votes. When everything is a starting bid, how are voters supposed to judge — or guess — where Trump might end up?

Trump's campaign is a vast policy desert, so declaring that the sparse fronds of detail are eminently negotiable erases any confidence that voters know what they are getting. Voting for Trump is like nailing Jell-O to your ballot.

Finally, most appallingly, Trump the liar. That is a strong charge, but it appears warranted in the matter of Trump masquerading as his own spokesman (disturbing enough) and then outright denying it (way more disturbing).

“It was not me on the phone,” Trump told NBC's Savannah Guthrie. “And it doesn't sound like me on the phone. I will tell you that. And it was not me on the phone. And when was this, 25 years ago?”

Yes, and Trump could have said any number of things: This was a silly prank, long ago. Of course he shouldn't have done it.

Instead, Trump opted to lie. How do we know? Because in a quote back then to People magazine about supposed spokesman “John Miller”, Trump described his posing as a “joke gone awry”. Because numerous reporters have described having similar encounters with phony Trump spokesmen.

Because Trump himself admitted in court that “I believe on occasion I used that name” — referring to a different alias, “John Barron”. Because who are you going to believe: Trump or your lying ears?

This is a fib, you might argue, so trivial as to be meaningless. Yet a candidate willing to lie about something so small will be a president willing to lie about something big — and this is hardly Trump's only lie (e.g., thousands of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on 9/11).

The popular understanding may be that all politicians lie, but there is a difference between the ordinarily distasteful political diet of spin, fudge, evasion and hyperbole and the Trumpian habit of unvarnished, unembarrassed falsehood.

“Who cares?” Trump would breezily assure the horrified Mar-a-Lago house historian after regaling guests with the untrue tale of how Walt Disney himself created the nursery rhyme-themed tiles in his daughter's room.

Who cares, indeed — an important question for voters. Americans have elected presidents who subsequently lied to them (and, yes, that includes the husband of a current candidate). Knowingly electing one who lies while trying out for the job would be a tragic mistake.
