You have probably seen this, an original work from my "Verse and Worse" ; I reprint it here for anyone whose cat, like mine, is getting old but still enjoying life.
I can't find whether I've posted it here before
I'm grinning to myself, not feeling any pain
yes, I know I'm silly, but it's happening again
I'm just gonna let it cos I thought I'd seen the last
Of that special sort of feeling that I knew in the past
This time it's sort of different, he doesn't even know
my shutdown mind has opened and I'm going with the flow.
My whole dim life has brightened just beause he's close at hand
the view is so much clearer as my horizons expand
I'm laughing at myself as I'm sitting frozen here
waiting for the moment when he will reappear,
my body poised and ready preparing for the leap
'cos he is mouse and nervous and I'm cat, ....... not asleep
