Gus was staring at the wall (there was nothing there, I checked).  I called "Gus".  He snapped his slack jaw shut and looked at me - semi-intelligently.  I said "Have you had your kai?"  He looked at me, and his eyebrows went up, and up, and up.  I swear he was thinking "I dunno?  Have I?"
