Wairarapa District Health Board and the WOWSERS who complained about the sign are those most deserving of this week's “Wanker of the Week” Award.
That bar is my “local”....it is just around the corner and a block down the road from my place. from The Dominion Post....New pub to take down ‘inappropriate’ signBy CALEB HARRIS | 5:00AM - Thursday, 23 October 2014FURORE: A prominent sign for new Masterton restaurant The Farriers has met with disapproval from the Wairarapa District Health Board for telling the town to “beer up”. — CALEB HARRIS/Fairfax NZ.SIGNAGE for a new bar owned by a licensing trust has been criticised for promoting irresponsible drinking.
The Wairarapa District Health Board decided at its meeting this week to complain about a sign for The Farriers Bar & Eatery saying “Beer up Masterton”, displayed prominently at the town's northern entrance.
“It seemed quite an inappropriate message when we're trying to change the drinking culture in our community ... it's a huge sign that's very visible,” board member Janine Vollebregt said.
Other members agreed, saying they had fielded complaints from the public about the sign. One member said a Rotary club also planned to complain to Trust House, the community enterprise that owns The Farriers and which is majority-owned by the Masterton Licensing Trust.
Health board chairman Derek Milne said public health officials would be asked to speak to Trust House chief executive Allan Pollard about the sign.
Pollard said the trust was aware of concerns about the sign and would move it and change its wording within a fortnight.
It was designed by an Auckland “concept company” that had not understood sensitivities around drinking in a small provincial centre, he said.
“Probably in Auckland you wouldn't give that a second glance, but here it's hit a nerve.”
The Farriers is a revamp of a building formerly occupied by the trust's Golden Shears Bar.
It opened earlier this month at 4 Queen Street North and is described on its website as “obsessed about great food, looking after people and daring to be a little different”.
But the site adds: “We value and encourage responsibility.”
Pollard said the bar was proving popular, with turnover in the first two weeks roughly doubling what had been forecast and more than justifying the approximately $700,000 spent on the refit.http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/10650583/New-pub-to-take-down-inappropriate-sign

The “Wanker of the Week” is depicted on the side of the aeroplane.
John Key is sooooo shallow, as are the numerous NZers who get sucked-in by his bullshit.
One of those gullible simpletons posts at this group.

All that proves is that the theory the number of stupid people in New Zealand equals the number of people shown on the Electoral Commission's website as having voted for the Nats (party vote) or ACT (electoral vote in Epsom) is absolutely true.
Add up those two totals and you have the total number of stupid people in New Zealand.
Are you included in that total of those stupid people?

....yes..its called a MAJORITY...we are in control...we call the shots...democracy is a great thing Ah, so you'll be able to amend the Resource Management Act, then? After all, it was policy “set in stone” in the promises made by John Key during the general election campaign last year. What is stopping you (and the Nats) using your majority to pass the amendment to the legislation?
