Having fun in the hills!

« on: September 12, 2017, 05:27:02 pm »

I was going to vote early (today).

But then I got polled by the Nats last night, so on the spur of the moment decided to pull an old trick I did two general elections in a row back during the 1990s when I was living in Gisborne.

So I told the pollster that I supported the Nats and would give them “two ticks”.

However, I also told the pollster, when asked, that I wouldn't be making myself available to help in any way.

So.....that now means that on election day, I will hold-off from voting. By early afternoon, the local Nats will know I haven't voted because of the returns from their scrutineers in every polling booth in the Wairarapa electorate, so I will receive the usual phone call reminding me to vote. However, I will still hold off voting, because I know from past experience that by late afternoon the local Nats will determine I still haven't voted, so will phone and offer a ride to a polling booth to vote, then a ride back home. I will gratefully accept their ride, but when I get to the polling booth, I will be voting for a candidate and political party other than the Nats. They will then drive me home again. I may or may-not tell the Nats supporter who gives me the ride how I voted as I am alighting from their car back at my place, depending upon what sort of mood I am in at the time.

How's that for a neat trick to shove one right up the clackers of the Nats, eh? And I've done it before in the past.
