...this election result is becoming more unpredictable....if labour and peters get enough seats to cut out the greens...it's really a guess as to who he would go with...although historically he would be more aligned with national...he has many enemies there now...he may like the more inexperienced labour leadership where he would likely get more power....😳
...time to strap ourselves in🙄.....it's getting scarey
I took the time to read some of peter's policy the other day....lots and lots more spending, lots and lots more bureaucracy....very little new income....it's a worry....but great if you're a socialist

More good news for Labour as Jacinda Ardern prepares for campaign launch

Better news for Green Party leader James Shaw and his MP in a new poll.

Labour leader  Jacinda Ardern kicks off her campaign with an official launch in Auckland on Sunday buoyed by a new poll that puts her party within striking distance of a softening National vote.

The survey obtained by Stuff and undertaken by pollsters UMR Research - which Labour, NZ First and a range of corporates use - put Labour at 37 per cent, up one percentage point since the last UMR poll a week ago.

That was the same support shown in this week's One News-Colmar Brunton poll.

But National was on only 40 per cent, down three from the previous UMR poll a week before. The One News poll also showed National down three percentage points but at 44 per cent.

There was better news for the Greens who were steady at 8 per cent in the UMR poll. That contrasted with the disastrous showing in the Colmar-Brunton survey released on Thursday that put them at 4.3 per cent - below the MMP threshold and in danger of crashing out of Parliament.

NZ First, up one at 9 per cent, was in third place and still in the box seat to determine which of the two major parties will lead the government after September 23.

If it threw its lot in with National the two would likely have a bare majority of 61 seats in a 120 seat House, although the support and number of electorate seats won by ACT, the Maori Party and United Future could change that calculation.

Labour and NZ First together would have only 57 seats on the latest UMR numbers and would need the backing of the Greens to form a Government.
