Me & The Handbrake did a trip round the North Island visiting grandkids.  En-route, we stopped off at Tongariro.  Man, has it changed since my Brother, Bil Guild and I used to spend weeks there with our 35mm SLRs in the 60s and 70s.  We were the first to hit the slopes, but by the time we reached the Blue Lake and looked back, it was like a column of marching ants coming up and over from the Mangetepopo side.

Looking across a hundred miles of bush at a cloud surrounded Mt Egmont through a 250mm lens not long after dawn.  National Park village in the foreground.

Yak looking toward Blue Lake from Red Crater

Unfortunately the pic is taken with a filterless cellphone and the emerald lake seen under looks blue instead of the cloudy green it was on the day
