No rain at my place.

A few dark clouds over the ranges which could mean it is raining there, but nothing down in the Wairarapa valley.

It is cloudy overhead (although with patches of blue sky visible through the holes in the cloud), just not the sort of clouds which produce rain.

Oh well.....if it rains, it rains.....it it doesn't rain, it doesn't rain....shit happens!

I had only just arrived home from work last night (after 11.00pm) and is p$ssed down - bloody fantastic sound it was too!

We still have light rain in Upper Hutt and are expecting more of the heavy stuff later.

Jeeeezus....it's bloody wet in Auckland.

Must be typical JAFA weather, eh?

(I was nearly going to pack an umbrella, but then I decided "there's a drought on" so I didn't bother. I didn't make allowances for Auckland weather.)

..and here was me at midday standing under a shop veranda asking what the heck this wet stuff was.

Mr Sp even decided to scalp the lawn - there are some bits with grass growing. Okay he is a bit over enthusiastic, it was only 2 inches high.

meanwhile....they are digging out cars stranded in snow drifts up to 20 ft deep in CORNWALL.

Seriously, the UK switches to summer time next week and they are snowed in.

It only rained in Auckland on Friday night. The rest of the weekend was fine.

Anyway, here are some weather pix taken earlier this evening from NZ2223 enroute from Auckland to Masterton....

It's a beautiful clear, sunny day at Hanmer Springs, although it was rather chilly overnight.

Off to the hot pools later, then I might go for a walk somewhere.

Moving on to Kaikoura for a few nights from tomorrow afternoon.

It wasn't fine on Sunday!

It rained again. Just enough to wet things down a bit more.

Then the humidity went up to over the 90% mark.

...which wasn't any good for paint drying.

Set us back 12 hours or more.

Sp2 had to sleep in the lounge last night.

It is raining again already!

Bobby doesn't like changes in the weather like this. He is wandering around the house looking damp as only a really fluffy cat can and voicing his discust.

Moaning like a cross between a lost soul and a teddybear while getting under foot in other words.

Cos it is YOUR fault. Apparently there is a switch that allows us to turn the wind and rain off - that's what my lot believe.

It was very pleasant sleeping last night - I didn't get too warm during the night because of the humidity - it was lovely to snuggle up in bed. In fact, I did not want to get out of bed.

Sunny here this morning but we are expecting rain later.

Ahh, the sound of a clear but foggy autumn morning.

The birds tweeting quietly...

...the cars backing up driveways and heading off...

...the 6:50am Hobsonville ferry tooting its way from Hobsonville to Beach Haven then through the mooring area heading for the city.

I could even hear the wash of the wake on the incrediblely calm harbour from inside the house.

It's getting bloody cold in Masterton at night (if was forcast for only 1°C last night, although I don't know if it actually got down that low or not, but it was bloody cold when I started work during the wee hours of this morning), yet during the day, temperatures are still up in the high teens or low twenties.

Such as today, where the digital thermometer in my lounge is currently displaying 22°C.

Absolutely a chocolate box of a weekend. Fine and clear and still warm enough to swim and muck around with kayaks until the tide drained out of Gardener's Gap.

Monday morning I pull on the raincoat and lightweight over trousers to walk along Takapuna Beach.

It poured down.

I have been walking on that beach every Monday for about 5 years now in all weathers and I have never seen the drains go from nothing to 5 foot high rooster tails in minutes.

I have walked in cyclones at hightide and never seen the water coming out of The Strand and Sanders Ave both down the road gutters and the stormwater pipes like that.

Needless to say my over trousers gave up halfway down the beach and when I got back to the car not only were may jeans soaked through and dripping form the hip down but so was the front of my shirt where the rain had blown through the zip flap of my raincoat. My shoes also let in water even though I did manage to cross all the drains without landing or standing in them, no mean feat that.

It's a beautiful day in Wairarapa.

Nice mild temperature too, and no wind.

When I went to work yesterday it was STUNNING in the Hutt and Wellington. I had no idea that we had a dramatic thunder and lightning storm - they estimate over 100 lightning strikes. I didn't know until one of the callers said how bad the weather was (it was a busy shift). When I left work at 10.00pm it was bucketing down - quite a hairy drive home to Upper Hutt. It's still raining heavily here now but we are forecast sunny weather again on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Scottycats are disgusted with teh weather and have put themselves to bed

Quite boring here, no trees down, no floods or car crashes, the power stayed on all night.
Shitloads of water landing on the ground but the drains are handling it. Why don't we rate a headline?

It's beautiful weather in Wellington this morning.

I'm currently heading home, travelling alongside the harbour, after attending a retirement shout at J'ville last night put on by a workmate who has just finished after 47 years on the job. Heaps of former long-since retired workmates there as well....it was a great reunion, although I guess there will be a lot of sore heads today.

Hopefully, when the train emerges from the Wairarapa end of the Rimutaka Tunnel, I will find similar beautiful weather on that side of the ranges.

Stunning day in Upper Hutt - loads of sunshine.

The Scottycats are outside enjoying the sun ... washing is on the line ... and I have the day off
