I saw this on an unrelated site but felt it interesting:
"ACC says a third of accidents happen around the home, while about a fifth of claims are alcohol-related".

Does anyone know what ACC's policy is relating to alcohol related injuries?  Surely many of them could be classified as self-inflicted and excluded while those where the injury is to another person should mean that ACC recovers the costs from the perpertrator.

If, for instance, I was assaulted by a drunk, I would expect cover from ACC. But like any insurance company ACC should attempt to recover the costs. Does this happen?

[W]hat the internet and its cult of anonymity do is to provide a blanket sort of immunity for anybody who wants to say anything about anybody else, and it would be difficult in this sense to think of a more morally deformed exploitation of the concept of free speech.
