A new law that compels taxis in 15 towns and cities to have working security camera systems came into force yesterday.

OK.  Anything that helps is good, but a camera isnt going to stop a drunk from thumping a cabbie, is it?.
I would have thought a screen surrounding and protecting the driver would have been more logical - as well as probably cheaper - but then I suppose logic and greed tend to clash.
