It performs a similar function to the specialist Kiwis' Digital Pix group that is a companion to the original Xtra News Community 2 group at MSN. However, this one is contained as a separate forum (messageboard) within the parent group. Keep an eye out for useful information such as how to insert images into messages at this new Xtra News Community 2 group. And also feel free to use this messageboard to talk about various photographic topics and display your digital images. I've got a Canon Powershot A470 7.1 pixels and it was less than $200 in June last year. Can't remember the exact price as it was replaced under insurance after my old one was taken in a burglary. I was just sent to Dick Smith to collect it. I had a Dolphin something or rather and it was sad compared to this new one. It's a 10x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens assembly. I was taking photographs on the way to Milford Sound during a huge rainstorm (a foot of water over 8 hours). The camera got wet several times. Anyway, several weeks after getting home, the camera stopped auto-focusing properly. So I sent it away to the Sony Service Centre in Auckland and they phoned me a few days later to say the lens assembly was completely stuffed (due to getting wet, and subsequently corrosion setting in), and that it was going to cost me $320 to replace the lens (including labour). As the camera was only a year old and still in excellent condition apart from the lens (they had already checked the rest of the camera and assured me there were no other problems) and as it would cost me $800 to replace the camera with another of the same model, I decided to bite the bullet and pay to get it fixed. That was an expensive rainstorm! |
