Bentley is going to be a real smooch - headbutts, facial kisses. He's a wee treasure. Both his Mum and Dad (Suzie and Simon) are very affectionate and do wonderful cuddles.

I'll be visiting his Breeder in 2 weeks so will get to meet Bentley. A friend will be staying with me from Hastings she has one of Margaret's delights so we are going to visit so they can catch up. One of Margaret's other wee girls (Dannii) had 6 babies 4 days ago. I'm looking froward to meeting them as well. Suzie (Bentley's Mum) gives lovely smooches and I always have cuddles with her (she is Bailey's Mum).

lol Auntie 'Goo,  I was going to go up with my daughter to pick him up, but she's 20 and it's time she took control.  Also, you know I couldn't have walked out of there without opting in on one of the kittens.  And now is not a good time for me to get kittens.  No.  Nah.  Not!

I'm pretty sure Auntie Ali could sell icecream to igloo dwellers.

PMSL - Margaret laughs at me each time I refer another potential Burmese Mum or Dad.

It all started with Mitzi when Mum and Dad's 17 year old Tonkinese, Jasmine died. I was referred to Margaret in Palmerston North. I saw the other kittens when I collected Mitzi (she was 12 weeks old at the time). Not long after that I met Bailey for the first time - she was one of 12 kittens to 3 Mums at the time. The 12 kittens used to spend all day every day together playing and sleeping. When I visited I took my camera (of course!) and took loads of photos. When I got home and looked at the photos I had taken, most of them were of a little Chocolate Girl (she was 9 weeks old at the time). I called her Bailey from the start even before there was even a hint I might get her. Margaret heard me refer to her as Bailey. I visited a few times on my way to and from Hastings. It seemed strange (LOL) that ALL of the kittens EXCEPT Bailey seemed to be spoken for. I was worried because of Yogi (that's another story) so was being very cautious. Out of the blue Margaret rang and asked me if I'd like to taker her on trial to see if it would work out. TRIAL - like anyone was going to get me to part with her once I had her in my possession!!! She answered to Bailey as soon as I got her so I'm deeply suspicious that I was set up (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/Animated%20emoticons/11_SmileyEyes.gif)

Macavity  - The Mystery Cat
a poem by T S Eliot

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw--
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law.
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime--Macavity's not there!

Macavity, Macavity, there's no on like Macavity,
He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.
His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime--Macavity's not there!
You may seek him in the basement, you may look up in the air--
But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there!

Macavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin;
You would know him if you saw him, for his eyes are sunken in.
His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly doomed;
His coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed.
He sways his head from side to side, with movements like a snake;
And when you think he's half asleep, he's always wide awake.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity.
You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square--
But when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there!

He's outwardly respectable. (They say he cheats at cards.)
And his footprints are not found in any file of Scotland Yard's.
And when the larder's looted, or the jewel-case is rifled,
Or when the milk is missing, or another Peke's been stifled,
Or the greenhouse glass is broken, and the trellis past repair--
Ay, there's the wonder of the thing! Macavity's not there!

And when the Foreign Office finds a Treaty's gone astray,
Or the Admiralty lose some plans and drawings by the way,
There may be a scap of paper in the hall or on the stair--
But it's useless of investigate--Macavity's not there!
And when the loss has been disclosed, the Secret Service say:
"It must have been Macavity!"--but he's a mile away.
You'll be sure to find him resting, or a-licking of his thumbs,
Or engaged in doing complicated long division sums.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macacity,
There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.
He always has an alibit, or one or two to spare:
And whatever time the deed took place--MACAVITY WASN'T THERE!
And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known
(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)
Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time
Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime!

That is one of my favourite poems.

Hate to mention it DT but Bentley looks like he knows a thing or two. Sp1 is already going AWWWWWWWW.

If it wasn't for what I have had to shell out at the vet last week (Sally) and this week (Bobby)and again next week (Bobby again)...

Bentley was unimpressed with his plane ride.  However, he was tolerant of the car ride to my house, met Garfield (who is sulking), met Daisy (who freaked out), met Gus (who he promptly put in his place and showed us all how huge his tail could fan out to).

Taken to him new home to settle in and there's been no emergency calls. :)

Thank you Ali for your help and guidance in this.  He's fabulous.  And NO! I can't have another cat. ;)

He's certainly being well loved.

I'm on baby sitting duty this weekend.  Miss DT is taking the twins for their first pub outing and she is scared she'll squash him if she's p*ssed.  ;D

Told her I'm pretty sure she'd come off second best, but probably a good thing for long term relations if he comes here.  ;)

Out of curiosity how are cats permitted to fly domestically?

Are they allowed in the cabin or do they have to be caged up in the hold?

They all behave quite differently when one of the 4 legged family dies. The personality changes are sometimes surprising!

Best check Mr DT's bags when he leaves - he may have a concealed feline if you don't (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/wink.gif)

Especially when he REALLY sorts everyone out into living their lives they way HE thinks they should. One look at that face would melt most hearts anyway. Bentley is such a cool wee dude. I love the friendship he has with Van. Margaret has two little dogs and although Bentley would not have actually played with them, he would have been used to just having them around.

Title: Re: Introducing Bentley

Van is the right dog for it too.  He's only about 7 months old, so no real preset bad behaviours, plus he was raised with 2 big grumpy cats that wouldn't run from him so he doesn't chase cats.

J tells me when Bentley's had enough of Van he picks up Van's top lip and give it a tug.  That sits him on his rump pretty fast and (from experience) probably brings a tear to his eye.

Good boy Bentley - PMSL. Ouch - that would really hurt!

Heidi (my darling old Siamese) used to try and get my attention by tapping my face gently while I was asleep. The taps would gradually get harder and when that failed (I used to pretend to be asleep) she would stick one claw in my nostril and slowly pull it out. That usually got my undivided attention.

Has Bentley won the older cats over yet or is that still a work in progress?

Title: Re: Introducing Bentley

It's actually good that Bentley hates the outdoors at the moment. The longer he is an indoor kitten for, the more likely it is that he will be a homebody. I kept my lot in for a number of months before they were allowed out, except for Yogi. I'd have the cat door locked intentionally but darling sweet kind Zara used to unlock the cat door for him and hold the flap open for him too. It was either kindness or she was hoping he'd run away (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/undecided.gif)

Lost him last night.  Turned on the bedroom light to have him do the old man squint/blink at me from Mr DT's armpit where he'd taken himself off to bed.

 :-\

Good luck with that position.

Over night he was on the covers, under the covers, on the pillow, on my shoulder, under the covers by my feet (needed rescuing then - couldn't work out which way was out), under the duvet but over the blanket where he found an awesome hammock effect, back under the covers.....

The only position he didn't try was across my throat, which is his favoured position with J.

He nipped me once and found himself on the floor.  Didn't try that twice.

This might sound silly but it's worth a try (worked with Bailey and Mitzi but not with Sam and Yogi) ... at bed time tonight, make Bentley look you in the eye and tell him that when the lights go out it's night time ... go nigh nighs. Worked a treat with my little girls. He's a boy ... worth a try ... good luck (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/wink.gif)

Sally has a couple of other methods for getting attention.

There is the back into your shoulder/face when you are sleeping which results in you waking suddenly with a mouth full of Sally rump.

Then there is the tap on the back when on the computer - if ignored it starts coming with claws.

Of course there is always the purring loudly in your ear with meowing.

And he will NOT sleep in his bed.  I had to sit with my jacket on and him inside it today while I worked - blardy nuisance.

Bailey does that. She crawls inside my dressing gown nearly under my armpit. Bentley (and his breed) live by the rule that they are Burmese and the rest of us just gotta live with it.

"I'm a Burmese if you please and I'm a Burmese if you don't please!"

Holly hell - that is Bailey all over only she's much heavier than Bentley. I think Miss DT might have started that though cos that's how he spent quite a bit of the trip back from Palmy to the Hutt.

Grandkitty looks like he's enjoying his weekend with his Grandparents (http://smfsupport.com/support/Smileys/smfnew/smitten.gif)

Miss DT must be missing him.

How are Garfield and Daisy coping with a little upstart?

Bentley was raised with Uncle OJ - a gorgeous Ginger Boy who Margaret has had since he was a kitten. OJ and his litter siblings were not much more than a week old when their mother was run over. Their owner took the kittens into the Vet Clinic not knowing what to do. Margaret just happened to be there to get some pills to dry up the milk of one of her Burmese Queens. Margaret offered to try the kittens with her girl - and it worked. Margaret found homes for all of them but was attached to OJ by then so he stayed and is Uncle to so many kittens. He plays with them and looks after them to give their Mums a break. Garfield is smaller than OJ but Bentley must have done a double take when he saw him.

Garfield spent the entire time being a dick!  Poor wee Bentley wasn't even raucous or overbearing.  Just being there had the ginga twit in a spin.   Daisy on the other hand touched noses with him.  Then sat back and stared at him.  Which he reciprocated.  So she slapped his face.   :-\  Bentley did go home with no war wounds though.  When Miss DT arrived in the car, I held Bentley up at the window to see.  He was completely focused on her until she walked up to him.  Didn't move or wiggle just stared.  :)  She got the super purr as soon as she touched him.

The mood lasted about 18 hours.  Miss DT rang in a panic - the bloody jack russell had pinned Bentley down and "nibbled" on his ear.   There's now a raw patch and a tiny hole (though quite a lot of blood).  Which may as well been the Grand Canyon as far as his mum was concerned, Miss DT was so furious and upset.  The rough and tumble has stopped I think. Van isn't going to get within coo-ee of Bentley now.  I think for a few minutes at least, she considered moving home.  Bentley did not appreciate the salt water bathe it got.  Nope.  Don't do that again mum!

The cute part (I'm going to call it that because I'm not sure how else to explain it) is that Mr DT, Master DT and Miss DT2 are all up in arms about it too.... Bentley's "OURS"!!!!!!

Bentley is such a lucky wee boy to have a great home and a great extended family. He really is 'another one out of the box' when it comes to being very special. I keep looking at Bentley's face and seeing Bailey. You would love Suzie and Simon (their 'biological' parents) if you met them. They're both headbutters and LOVE cuddles and smooches.

It wouldn't surprise me if Garfield is jealous of Bentley in as much as G has been the baby of the family for quite a long time. Now that the Lilac pipsqueak has come along AND slept in HIS Mum and Dad's bed, poor Garfield will be thinking he's lost his cherished baby spot. I think they will get to be okay together.

He's fine.  I saw the 'wound' tonight.  Its more a parting of the fur than a cut.  There isn't going to be a scar or anything.... though to see J with Van that poor puppy isn't going to live it down in this lifetime.

We introduced Van and Bentley to J's best friends 17 month old daughter tonight.  Bentley instantly went up out of reach and Van was so excited for about 10 minutes, then he wanted up too and had look on his face that said "mum, we don't need to get one of those eh?" lmao - tempted to take Kaia there every night to wear everyone out before bed time!

Bed time is always a challenge for the Burmese Boys. He will get better. B's sisters come to bed as soon as the lights are out and that is it for the night. They have both always been like that. Sam and Yogi, on the other hand used to play up something terrible at bed time when they were B's age. It took them quite a few months to settle down and go to bed on demand!

Mokokitty is here tonight.   She's been having issues with him playing at night.  So we've got him.  I've told her bed is bedtime and not to play with him in there - I think that's been the issue.

Was having a look and found this site:  http://www.cat-world.com.au/burmese-cat-breed-profile (http://www.cat-world.com.au/burmese-cat-breed-profile)  Gorgeous pictures - especially love the brown and blue torties, though they're all beautiful.

FYI - American Burmese have an extra colour.... Sable.  What colour is Sable??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burmese_(cat) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burmese_(cat)) Daisy looks mighty vidicated I can tell you!

Is now a good time to tell you Margaret has some Torties? (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/MSN%20emoticons/13emangel.gif)

As for the night time playing. Both my boys were little shits at bed time. The girls were and are angels at bed time. Bed time means go to bed and go to sleep. The girls were told that from the start and complied. The boys were told that at the start and did not comply. Use the word NO - keep in mind Bentley knows what no means, it's just that he chooses when to observe the instruction.

Have fun. Tell him Aunty Ali says BED TIME BENTLEY - time for nigh nighs now! Tell him his big sisters Bailey and Mitzi go to bed when they're told to.

Poor Garfield - he will get used to Bentley though. It must be tough finding out he's no longer the baby. Yogi went through a similiar crisis when Bailey arrived. He was determined to make Bailey hiss or growl so he could bash her up for insubordination, however Bailey just ignored Yogi.

He's been here since last night.  Staying through till Monday.

He came a cropper last night though.  He was being a plonker in my bed, so Mr DT came and got him and took him through to the lounge.

Bentley came bounding back in, jumped onto the bed and then jumped/swiped my face with both front paws in one move.

He found nana can move too, and seemed to come to the realization that making me bleed (eyelid and nose) wasn't the brightest move he could have made.  Claws have been sheathed for the last 24 hours.  Even when Miss 19 month old wanted to cuddle he just submitted till I could extract him.

Garfield is STILL being a pussy!  Bentley's mums boyfriend is his new best friend..... little does he know lmao

Reuben doesn't look too stressed by all the Burmese attention!

Sam and Yogi trained my flatmate right from early on that they were to be carried around on her left shoulder. I refused to be trained - I'm not silly - kittens become heavy cats (http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

Flatmate ended up having to carry a 8kg cat in Sam and now a 6kg cat in Yogi. Neither of them tried it on me cos I discouraged it while they were still small and light weight.

This was Reuben's post from a week or so ago... (edited for names)

So I guess my story began when I got home and Miss DT walks out of her room holding the kitten. She presents him to me and says "here you can take him he's being a sod". I said "aww poor kitty come here" and put him on my shoulder. Things were fine, but then I got bored of trying to balance him so I tried to grab him. Kitten then puts a claw through my t shirt and into my back. In pain I lean towards the couch hoping he would jump off, to that he then proceeds to put another claw into my back. It was so painful and, he had me fucked cause I can't reach my back. I jumped around in a last effort to remove him. He then puts all for paw/claw assembly into my back. I fell over in defeat. Kitten then walks away purring. .

Today I was taken down by a kitten. . .

Aunty Ali has a theory on that ... Bentley respects the tough love from Grandies. He's determined to make you love him as he knows you're tougher. Bentley knows he doesn't need to demonstrate his love to his Mum as she'll love and adore him no matter what - he knows she's softer on his behaviour. I've given her the tough love advice - it's for Bentley's own good. The Burmese Boys can be a handful - generally (holding my breath here) the Burmese Girls are easier to manage. There are exceptions to the rule though (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/cool.gif)

I have been extremely lucky with Zara, Bailey and Mitzi - they were/are all angels (Zara all the time the other two most of the time). Sam and Yogi however ....

I've given Miss DT some advice of the 'tough love' kind. I've told her it's for Bentley's own good. He's a bright wee boy and will push the boundaries as far as he can - because he can! I have more control (yeah right) of my lot than my flatmate because she's a softer touch. When she gives Yogi 'time out' in the spare bedroom, she lets him out very quickly when she hears him crying like a baby.

Burmese Boys in particular need to be guided in teh right direction (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/wink.gif) - I think Bentley sees Miss DT as a soft touch.

He's taken all the sun spots that Daisy so loves and made them his own.   She's taken herself off to the linen cupboard.

Garfield is 'slightly' calmer.  Slightly.  Still not thrilled with the whole deal though.

Each time with mine when they were going outside for the first few times, I'd tell them to report back every 10 minutes (tongue in cheek of course) and amazingly enough they would. Yogi and Bailey were the ones who'd race back inside and tell me what they'd been up to then go back outside for another adventure. If I wasn't easy to find, boy did I get a telling off from them.

Does he go outside at his own place?

Miss Dt isn't well, so we kept him so she could get some sleep.  He's going home tonight.

His big day yesterday was up on the roof.  I watched him climbing the branch and I was saying "No Bentley, get down Bentley, don't you dare climb up on the roof".  He dared.  So I was all like you have to stay there now until someone a lot taller than me gets here with a ladder.

30 minutes later he tore into the house screaming around and around super excited because he got down by himself.  Little Mr Independent!

He's been sleeping well.

The other big news from yesterday was Garfield was asleep in front of the fire with his back to the sofa.  Bentley slithered off the sofa and pounced on him all four legs akimbo over Garfield and he chewed on G's neck.  G lay there and took it.  After that if G wanted to get around the lounge he jumped from furniture item to furniture item lol.   But there weren't any repercussions for Bentles.  All he needed to go was attack to sort out G's bad attitude.  Who would have thunk that lmao

It's amazing how they sort things out for themselves. Garfield might be begrudgingly enjoying haveing a playmate under his previous bravado. Bailey was the little smarty pants who worked out how to win Holly, Zara and Yogi over. She picked them off one at a time and had them all besotted with her very quickly. Smart little sods that they are!

Hope Miss DT is feeling better today. Tell Bentley that Aunty Ali says he's to look after his Mum and be a good boy!

You should leave him here..."  Then he's nagging me... "Poor mokokitty at home alone... go get him, he shouldn't be alone all day... he needs to come here"  lmao

Yet he cringes when I mention Margaret and her litters :D

Garfield seems to be asking all the neighbourhood riff-raff over!  Several cats are hanging around outside at night.  This will stop!  I have a water jet and will use it!

Hahaha - Mr DT has well and truly fallen for Bentley's charms - what a clever wee manipulator (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/wink.gif) It may only be a matter of time before Mr DT decides you (as a family) need a Burmese Baby. After all, Bentley would love to have a friend around his own age to play with and the Grandies (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/smiley.gif)

Maybe Garfield has decided he needs friends?

Big B had a custody visit from his mama.  But she's staying away from her flat tonight, so he's still here.

He was a very good boy last night.  Slept on my dressing gown and didn't move from there, even when the OTHER two decided to have a war beside me on Mr DT's side of the bed.

DT 1
Garfield/ Daisy 0

Nor did he shift when Daisy decided she'd quite like to dig her way into Master DT's bedroom, under the door.

DT 2
Daisy 0

He only moved to get under the blankets at about 5am and stayed settled until 8am when I decided that was as much of a sleep in as I could handle.

He's been a bit of a toad today though.  There's a big grease mark down his back from under a visitors car, and he hid from me on the driveway in a wheel-well.   I got him out with the hose (my water pistol has disappeared.... I strongly suspect Garfield had something to do with that... and the dogs).  Now he's dried off and napping on my son's lap in front of the fire.

Mr DT is back tonight... wonder what behaviour that will change.

It's funny watching a grown man chasing a kitten around the house for a cuddle.

Bentley knows two things tick me off at 3am

a)  tickling my face with his whiskers (I'm bloody sure he does it on purpose), and
b)  licking my face

He obviously wanted the warmies under the covers, but not the stink of Mr DT's 'Wellington' bum.  (He seems to eat some real crap when he's up there and we all pay the price while his body settles back down).

Miss DT visited last night after netball, but still left him with me.  Not sure of her excuse, but I'm starting to think she's taking the piss a bit.

Miss DT's flat split up, so I have...

Miss DT
Miss Best Friend/Flatmate of Miss DT
Mokokitty
MokoJackRussell

The girls are sharing the sleepout atm.
Mokokitty sleeps in the house.
MokoJackRussell sleeps in the sleepout.

Unless they all don't, in which case anyone of them could be sleeping anywhere(ish).  :-\

Poor Garfield... Van the Jack Russell is so offensive to him even Mokokitty looks good.

Daisy just belts everyone.

lol - Bentley was soooo pleased to see us.  His mama was at work when we arrived home and so we got the full Bentley welcome (you know... the I've been alone for Daaaaaaays and Daaaaaaaaays! welcome).

Garfield came a close second because Bentley chased him away twice before he managed to get close.  Daisy just shouted from under the table as per usual.  Though she did emerge to point out that the tin of tuna was on top of the microwave, unopened....

After being home for the night we took off again for Hanmer and the West Coast.  Just beat the weather back.  When I say 'tail wind' I'm not kidding!!!!

Last night we had Bentley at our feet, Garfield in the blanket hammock between us and Daisy on Mr DT's pillow.  Apparently at some time in the night they all vacated to Miss DT's room and she had Bentley across her face, Daisy on her hip and Garfield across her feet.   Master DT hasn't commented but then he went to work at 4.45am, got home at 6pm and after eating went to bed to do it again tomorrow... and he loves his job!  lol

Bailey has a huge fan club. Everyone who meets her and falls for her charms wants to take her. There have been a few kidnap attempts made but when it comes down to it, she's a bit of a sook for her Mum.

Butterfly kisses are pretty much guaranteed from Suzie and Simon's babies.

Today is/was Miss DT's 21st birthday.  She worked.  Mr DT and I spent the late after noon at the emergency vets with a very sore and sad Bentley.  He seems to have been hit by a car.  Probably run over his tail and tumbled across the asphalt.  There's a nasty cut to his jaw, lots of cuts, nicks and scuffs over him.  He's glassy eyed and has no movement in his tail.

He'll be at the emergency vets overnight and then we pick him up in the morning for transfer to our own vet.  They are just keeping him stable and giving pain relief.  He's too alert for xrays, but too concussed for an anesthetic.

Yep - he spent the entire time presenting his arse to us.  And if he couldn't get his arse facing us, then he would turn so we got the back of his head.  Definitely prefered his butt pointing at us though.

He's with his own vet now and xrays are scheduled for mid morning.

The noteworthy behaviour from the other DT cats was Daisy calling for him for an hour in the early hours of this morning.  Enough to warrant me getting up and giving her a hand out the door.  ::)

In true Burmese Boy behaviour, Mr B is giving his loyalty and love to those at the Vet Centre who are looking after him. At the moment, you and Miss DT are the naughty people who left him 'there.' Give Margaret a call in Palmy - she may know of a Breeder or Cattery in Christchurch?

It might be a good idea to get a Feliway Diffuser and plug it in near where the crate is put. It lets out happy feromones and might help Mr B.

Thanks Ali.  His vet is supplying a crate and heat pad (solid plate thing that the bed goes on top of, and that you heat in the microwave for 12 hours warmth).  I've made J put on his favourite dressing gown (mine) with the order to sleep with it all night to get her mank on it.  Then we'll use it as a comforter when he's ready to come home in the morning.   J is going to ring Margaret tomorrow when we know for sure he's ok.

When my dear old moggie Oscar was with us, he had a penchant for going across the road to the bush and playing for hours until he came home one night in a terrible mess.    Off to the vet and it appeared that he had been seriously mauled by a possum.
I don't know whether it was the possum,  the injections at the vets or my lecture about getting one final needle if he ever crossed the road again that kept him at home.    He never left the property again.   I hope your Bentley will paws pause and think about things before he leaves the house.(http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/MSN%20emoticons/17emcat.gif)

Update:  I went out and bought him a huge XXL dog crate (thank God for trademe and weekend traders) as he's confined for long periods but I think he needs to be able to move around a wee bit.

His bladder started working properly Saturday evening.  To be precise, I got the phone call from Miss DT while we (Mr DT and I) were out having dinner with some friends.  I of course cheered, and when I explained, so did the rest of the table.

Yesterday he definitely took a turn for the worse though.  Went off his food, wouldn't cuddle, just moped.  So back to the vets today but it's just the bodies natural endophines have worn off and he's getting by just on the daily pain meds (which I think might not quite be enough in his mind).  Poor little bugger.  I can vouch that broken vertebrae has to be one of the most painful injuries possible.  Still, Karen his vet was thrilled to say his bladder is working perfectly (completely empty and obviously voiding in the correct manner - rather than leaking into his gut, or dribbling from his urethra).  That was their biggest fear as even though a tail pull injury sounds lame, and looks OK, it is extremely dangerous to a cats bladder and it will be that which will kill them if it's going to.

So, we have more pain meds that he can stay on for another 7 days.  Stitches out in 8 days.

And... he definitely moved the stub today.  He has no feeling in it, and the movement can only have been by tendons / muscles moving in the pelvic area, but he lifted it slightly, which made me feel so much better.  Because when he sits it hold him up like a little tripod and all I can think of is how that must be grinding in the area of the break (which is swollen horribly).  My broken vertebrae felt like a handful of windscreen glass (too sharp to just say gravel) being ground into the area when I moved, so I get a bit teary when he looks like he's in pain and miserable.

Karen gave him a kiss and a telling off for being so close to a car wheel... and strict instructions he's to teach his baby sister GOOD road rules.

He's very weird in the car now.  He used to be extremely vocal and insist that his carry cage was open while he lay on the seat beside it.  Now he just rides in his carrier, without making a sound.  :(

It was almost like he was waiting to hear from his own doctor before he perked up.  As soon as Karen said he was going to be OK, he started to interact and behave a lot happier.

He's not happy with the fact he has to sleep in the crate at least until his stitches come out, but he'll get over it.

When I get up, I cuddle him in my dressing gown for 10 minutes, then pass him to Mr DT who cuddles him in bed until he gets up, and he passes him to Miss L who cuddles him in bed until SHE gets up... which is about 10 minutes before she needs to have a shower and leave (11am), so he goes back in his crate until Master S gets home at 1pm who cuddles him on the sofa until Miss DT gets home (he pretty much goes from person to person on the sofa until bed times, when he is passed from person to person in bed until the last man standing puts him back in the crate to start again in the morning.  VERY complicated with a lot of shouting of "Who's got Bentley?"

It was almost like he was waiting to hear from his own doctor before he perked up.  As soon as Karen said he was going to be OK, he started to interact and behave a lot happier.

He's not happy with the fact he has to sleep in the crate at least until his stitches come out, but he'll get over it.

Poor wee man - it is a HUGE ask to expect a Burmese NOT to sleep in bed with his human.

If you are going to have a pet you may as well love them to bits and spoil them rotten.  ::)

He is not going to be happy when school starts up again - that is if any of your lot are still at school (I can't recall :-[).

I figured Bentley had used up about 5 of his 9 lives, so bought 5 raffle tickets in the local pet shop for a massive cat condo.  Retails at around $465.

I won.  ;D

Now we gotta get it home.

Wahoo - Alicat has arrived home from late shift completely and utterly knackered ... I'm sitting down but really I am dancing for you and Bentley too! Is the condo like mine? They are BRILLIANT!

How is Bentley anyway? His half sister Sadie is still on antibiotics for her tail mishap. She got caught in a garage door by the tail. She has a nasty laceration and is on her third lot of antibiotics but doing fine.

He's doing great.  He has regained some control of the stump.  You can touch it and he is oblivious, but he can move it from side to side and up and down now, which has improved his ability to sit properly no end.  All his cuts and grazes (and there were a lot) are healing great.  The one on his rear foot is the deepest (actual cuts instead of grazes) and the slowest to heal, but he's finished his abs for now and was fine on half pain killer last night.

He is obviously feeling the cold in his little shaved butt though lol.  He escapes into the yard, then chases you down for letting him out. lmao

Glad to hear Mr B is on the mend. I hope the laceration on his foot heals quickly without any further issues. I am sure you have talked tohim about keeping it clean - and of course he listened (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/MSN%20emoticons/09emcrook.gif)

Just a thought but you might get some colloidal silver from any health food shop.    I swear by the stuff and find it useful for burns, cuts scrapes etc.    They apparently use it in burn wards these days too.   When my late mother had a particularly nasty fall in the shower and split her face and head open very badly I cleaned her up with it and the doctor said it was the key factor in no infection in the area until we got some help for her so I have continued to use it.       You can use it on eyes, internally, externally, drink it...although I don't, and it is safe for animals eyes, cuts etc.
I don't advocate a lot of health shop products but this one is a good one.

Great minds Ali.   I was thinking about His Bentleyness this morning.   No doubt thriving on the very best of care and by now, demanding nothing less.   Bless him. (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/MSN%20emoticons/17emcat.gif)

I would dearly love a Lily, or a Belle or a Bentley but I live in dread of the road that passes our place.   It has already claimed several cats who love to play in the bush on the other side of the road and my precious Bichon/Apso Bertie.
The house hasn't been the same since Oscar, my HUGE black cat passed away.

Had you considered getting a wee Lily or Bella and keeping her as an indoor cat? I'm paranoid about roads with my lot.

Since I moved here, I have not had a cat door put in. My cats are not allowed outside unless I am home. Usually that is outside privileges on my days off and occasionally first thing in the morning when I am working a late shift. That privilege only works if they come when they are called, which so far they have (except for the one Yogi indiscretion).

Margaret is likely to have more kittens ready in 6 months time (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/MSN%20emoticons/03emwink.gif)

Methinks once you have met Bella and Lily, the need and the want may get greater (http://www.smfboards.com/Smileys//smf/cheesy.gif)

Once you meet Lily and get bitten by the 'Burmese-Love-Bug" there is no turning back. Once they have you in their cuddle-zone ... you are HISTORY (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww32/XtraNewsCommunity2/Animated%20emoticons/09_ROFLMAO.gif)

He's all "what's the probs"

We are hoping his adventures are over.  However, just in case he now sports a reflective collar and a disk with his name and phone number.

His half sister Sadie got a nasty laceration on her tail from getting caught in a garage door the same day as Mr B had his accident. She was one very very lucky wee girl - no surgery just loads of antibiotics. She was always a wanderer but stays closer to home now.

Hope Mr B does the same!

DT - give Margaret a call when you can she needs to discuss when you collect the girls. They haven't been spayed yet as Lily doesn't weigh quite enough.

Thanks Ali,  She sort of mentioned that might be the case when I spoke to her last.  Lulu also gave me a message this evening.  I'll have to phone her tomorrow.  :)

I was in the pet shop today and there were two chocolate burmese girls in the window with the cutest little blonde curly haired girl of about 4 with her nose pressed to the window.  She turned to me and said "We have got 2 kittens...... AND THAT'S THEM THERE!"   ;D   Her mum came down and confirmed they had bought both the chocolates and were taking them home after a vet check on Monday.  Anyway, her horror story was their old burmese got crushed by the garage door.  :-\  I'm seriously off automatic garage doors now.

I've been freaked about garage doors for a long time. A friend's Burmese got caught in an automatic garage door and Mitzi used to climb up on top of Mum and Dad's garage door. You couldn't see her and I was always worried about her.

You're doing the right thing getting Bella through a good Breeder. Pedigrees from Pet Shops can have 'issues' = just ask Yogi!

No ... she hasn't. The difference in size between the two little girls is more obvious because there are only the two kittens. There is always a smaller one in each litter but when there are more than a couple of them it's not as noticeable.

Mitzi was the little one in her litter and look at her now.

Yeah well,

I have a Daisy who should be named Ditzy.

A Garfield who should be a Nermal.

So I'm wondering if Bella is going to be a Brucella.   :-\

He certainly is. Apart from a very good Vet, the main reason Bentley recovered so well is down to his wonderful devoted family and the love he felt from you all (http://smfsupport.com/support/Smileys/smfnew/smitten.gif)
